The 22-year-old undefeated fighter took another step towards beating Jon Jones’s record, but there were some doubts in fans’ minds.

What happened during the fight at UFC 280?

Mokaev started the fight with a good pace and pressure. The perfect record holder had the biggest challenge of his career. On paper, it looked like a tough fight for Mokaev as Gordon boasts the skills of a grappler.

The insanely high pace fight went back and forth and fans had their eyes glued to the screen. The fight turned out to be a scrapyard as they exchanged continuous violent blows. Notably, the fight had many reversals attempted by both fighters, displaying their top-notch skills.

In the end, The Brit maintained his perfect record with an armbar submission in the third round. Following this, he demanded a bonus like a young Conor McGregor did back in the days when the UFC bonus was $60,000. The undefeated fighter said in the post-fight interview, “Uncle Dana, 50 Gs baby.”

How did the fans react?

Some fans pointed out the biased commentary as the commentators called the fight a “learning session” for the Brit. Besides, some fans were overjoyed at the entertaining fight. However, fans were not sure whether Mokaev could get past Jon Jones‘s record – youngest UFC world champion.

One fan called Mokaev a future champ.

Another fan came for his support. Thus he wrote, “I think we should hold off on rushing for the @JonnyBones record. This kid has everything: handsome, speaks English, lives in UK, Muslim, technique, athleticism, and personality.”

Contrary, another fan commented, “Don’t give up on this kid yet… all great fighters have tests against fighters we expect them to run through, especially at 22 years old…. That being said he DAMN sure not breaking Jon Jones record 😂😂 #UFC280″
