Jon Jones is under public scrutiny once again for avoiding a fight against the interim heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall, right after showing interest in fighting him on X. Despite his previous fight against Stipe Miocic being canceled due to an injury, Jones seems to be completely focused on ‘Stone Cold’. Regardless, the fight fans wanted the heavyweight champ to defeat the division’s interim champion after ‘Bones’ teased them by asking them to choose between Aspinall and Alex Pereira.

In another tweet, Jones responded to a fan asking him to vacate the belt and let everyone have a chance at it. The fighter replied that he was on a mission. He seemingly attacked Aspinall by quoting that Aspinall, the healthy interim champ, was simply waiting to fight the winner of a fight between a 42-year-old and a 36-year-old fighter. Moreover, he declared that he was already committed to fighting Miocic.

Furthermore, he clarified that he would stick to the original plans made by the fight promotion. Jones was apparently left with two choices. One was to give up on the training he underwent to fight Miocic and opt for Aspinall, the contender with the accolades. The other choice was to fight ‘The Silencer’ and take on whoever comes next, which he announced in yet another tweet: “I am not changing my plans for anyone. Stipe is over there as the best heavyweight ever working his a** off. I’m gonna give that man what he wants, and I’m going to claim another head. Whatever comes next comes next.“

The fight fans were simply unhappy with Jones trying to push back a fight against the ‘Honey Badger’. One fan claimed that ‘Bones’ was ruining his legacy by avoiding Aspinall. “Jon says “no one stopping anyone” but he doesn’t want to fight with interim champ of his division. Bro literally ruins his legacy.”

They speculated that the UFC double champion was afraid of Aspinall. “Translation: I am terrified of losing my zero to Tom Aspinall”, wrote one fan. Another fan wrote, “He’s actually scared of Tom.” One fan tried to break down Jones’ words saying, “Again, so many words to say ‘I don’t want to fight Tom Aspinall.’”

Furthermore, the fans pointed out that the fighter was openly ducking the fight. “Okay well that’s just openly ducking. I respect the honesty tbf”, commented one fan, while another provided Jones with a new moniker, “His new Name, Jon the Duck Jones, quack quack, loves ducking the toughest fight.”

Nevertheless, the MMA community also had Miocic in the discussions. One of the fans questioned why Jones considered him to be the best heavyweight fighter, despite him getting knocked out on several occasions. “Stipe has been slept on various occasions why is he in the talks for best heavyweight ever???” Another fan wrote, “All facts, the disrespect to stipe is crazyyyy.”
