Imagine a clash between two of the greatest light heavyweights to ever step into the Octagon—a battle between an unstoppable force and an immovable object. That is how Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira looks to the general MMA fan. The duo has been calling on the UFC, as well as Dana White, to make the fight happen. It all started when Jon Jones floated the idea of facing Pereira before taking on Tom Aspinall. “I’m not really worried about the Tom fight. I’m worried about the Pereira fight,” Jones said at the UFC 309 post-fight press conference. Months later, ‘Poatan’ is echoing the same sentiment.

Even before clashing against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, Jon Jones challenged Alex Pereira for a fight, however, it was just a common callout by the fighters. Admittedly, the heavyweight champ was trying to jump questions about Tom Aspinall. However, it appears that the small gimmick might have turned into a huge storm as both Jones and Pereira appear to be serious about their face-off.

While having a conversation with the media, the light-heavyweight champion asserted that he would love to fight Jon Jones but the UFC bossman Dana White will be the one to make the fight and not them, “There is an interest. There is a potential. Even Jon Jones expressed himself. We wanted to do it. We want! Now, it’s up to the UFC to make it happen.” This statement caused a wildfire among the MMA community which was later shared on Instagram and guess what? Jon Jones has shared this statement on his Instagram story with a ninja emoji.
