Jon Jones has been getting ready for what seems like his final show in the Octagon. Nearing the age of 40, the mixed martial artist has faced a lot of health issues. Be it increased susceptibility to injuries or a smaller gas tank, Jones’ troubles weren’t something that the fighting community didn’t know about. But the heavyweight champion has taken steps to ensure that he entertains the fight fans to the greatest extent.
Jones took to social media to share updates on his recovery to the fighting community in a series of slides. In the captions, the heavyweight champion wrote, “I had an absolutely golden day today. I worked hard with my brothers. Had a kick a– interview with ESPN. Life is good. Living a dream.” He tagged ‘10X Health System’, an organization that seemingly provides advanced solutions to athletes for optimal performance. This Instagram post extracted a reaction from Gary Brecka, a co-founder, life coach, and chief human biologist at the organization.
Brecka is indeed the same man who advised Dana White to do a 72-hour water fast. A couple of years ago, the UFC head honcho revealed that the medicos gave him a prognosis of only a decade, and urged him to lead a healthier life. But Brecka came into White’s life and overturned the doctors’ prognosis with his medical expertise. No wonder, the UFC CEO looks up to Brecka whenever he requires medical advice.

Coming back to Jon Jones’ recovery regime, Gary Brecka approved of the heavyweight champion’s methods. Taking to the comments section of the IG post, he wrote, “Love seeing you on the plan. It’s working champ!!” Needless to say, it made the fight fans believe that Jones was all ready to give his all against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309.

First up, a video showed him running around the neighborhood, pumping up his cardiovascular function. Nearing an age where the human body starts witnessing a significant fall in strength and stamina, the UFC heavyweight champion took measures to ensure that his gas tank didn’t empty out early on during his fight against Miocic. Right after the run, ‘Bones’ took a cold plunge inside a barrel. Research has shown that cold water aids in controlling inflammation following strenuous exercise. The cold plunge certainly helped Jones reduce soreness in his muscles and eliminate all feelings of fatigue. On top of that, a cold plunge is often linked to improving blood circulation which ensures the proper delivery of nutrients and oxygen to the muscle fibers, which in turn, fast forwards the recovery process, while boosting one’s metabolism at the same time.
But the New Mexico resident didn’t stop there. After his body returned to normal following the cold plunge, he went on for a hot shower. While entering a sauna room, or hot shower, right after a cold plunge can be pretty dangerous, giving a break in between has benefits necessary for mixed martial artists. The hot water helps dilate the blood vessels and relax one’s body. It is indeed one of the most relaxing processes of recovering from a heavy workout session.

Jon Jones feels grateful for Gary Brecka’s help
This is definitely not the first time Jones and Brecka had an interaction. Back on 14th October, spent a day with the human biologist and his wife. He took to social media and released a handful of photographs about their meetup. Needless to say, he was pretty grateful for all the advice Brecka had to give.
In the captions, Jones wrote, “I can’t possibly THANK YOU two enough for spending the whole day at my home helping me with my health and nutrition goals! Your guidance and support mean so much to me. I am not sure I’ll ever able to repay you. I consider you a true and real friend. I am also feeling so motivated and ready to get a W and to tackle my health journey for the rest of my life!”

But as he prepared for his fight at Madison Square Garden, Brecka swooped in to help ‘Bones’. This has seemingly ensured the heavyweight’s impressive performance against Miocic.
