The rivalry between newly crowned heavyweight champ Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier was probably one of the most bitter ones that UFC fans had ever experienced. The competitiveness that both displayed in their careers pushed them to their utmost extreme ends as both tried to lay claim to the light heavyweight division for years at an end. Although Cormier ended up retiring in 2020 following a loss to Stipe Miocic, tales of this rivalry continued to be told amongst combat fans.

Fortunately for fans who wanted to see both legends keep their disagreements aside, the lead-up to UFC 285 appeared to provide the same as Jones seemingly expressed his respect for DC in a tweet. Yet, after all this respect shared from both ends, it looks like Jones’ victory against Ciryl Gane must have stirred up the feud between the two once again.

What appears to have riled up Jones is the freshly viral clip of Cormier’s reaction during the UFC 285 main event. As ‘Bones’ confirmed his victory with a guillotine in the second minute of the first round, DC’s confused state as he tried to figure out what happened, left many feeling that the 43-year-old was not exactly too happy with the outcome. And considering their heated rivalry, it’s also quite natural for a fan to assume that.

Upon being asked by a follower on Twitter, Jones seemed to share a similar sentiment as well. The heavyweight champ pointed out Cormier not recognizing a guillotine was quite suspicious, considering he was an elite fighter himself.

“My man couldn’t even pretend to smile, it was pretty funny. Asking what happened, an experience former champion and analyst suddenly not being able to identify a guillotine,” he tweeted.

After all the respect that Jones had shared prior to UFC 285, it appears that the heavyweight champ was clearly not too impressed with DC’s reaction.

Despite fans accusing him of being ‘bitter’ about Jones’ victory, Cormier had earlier sent out a tweet addressing the issue. The former champ, while claiming that he wasn’t aware of what forced Gane to tap, played it off by stating that he was there only to do his job as an analyst.

But whether the 43-year-old was indeed bitter or genuinely confused is something fans can decide on their own after watching the clip.

Unfortunately, for fans who wanted to see the duo keep their bitterness aside, it looks like they are in for a disappointment. Or maybe a few years down the line, fans could eventually see them bury their hatchet and have a sweet ending to this rivalry.
