After chaotic International Fight Week with the UFC 303 card getting changed more times than perhaps any other PPV event in history, Alex Pereira stepped in to defend his title for a second time against Jiri Prochazka. And what do you think happened? The outcome of the rematch was similar to that of the first one – a second-round knockout. After pulling off yet another knockout win in the initial rounds of the bout at UFC 303, Alex Pereira answered one of Joe Rogan‘s questions in the post-fight Octagon interview, touching upon the topic of a move to heavyweight. While Dana White doesn’t see him getting the better of Jon Jones as a heavyweight, ‘Poatan’ saw the excitement fans had at the T-Mobile Arena when Rogan mentioned the heavyweight move and guess what?

Pereira moving to the heaviest division could become a reality soon. “I think that’s [HW move] in my future… I’m here and I’m available… If this is what they [the fans] want, it’s going to be inevitable,” Alex Pereira told Joe Rogan.

Having stepped up to the occasion whenever the promotion needed him, will Dana White oblige and see him move to the heavyweight division? After all, Pereira has the opportunity to become a three-weight champion – something that’s never been done before. We will have to wait and see how things play out for the 205-pound champion. Meanwhile, let’s see how the rematch against Jiri Prochazka played out.

The UFC 303 main event – as it happened

Alex Pereira started the fight with his leg kicks and worked on both of Jiri Prochazka’s legs. He even caught ‘The Czech Samurai’ with some strong jabs, but Prochazka wasn’t staying down as he landed some significant shots as well. The former champion would later get in a clinch with the reigning champion in an attempt to take him down.

Alex Pereira survived that ordeal and landed a strong left hand that floored Prochazka, but the bell saved the former champion. Many people thought that might have been a narrow escape for the Czech star, but guess what? The second round started to quickly end as Pereira landed a nasty head kick to put Prochazka down for good and followed it up with a few strikes before the referee called for the fight to end. Yes, ‘Poatan’ knocked out Prochazka again!
