Jon Jones was injured last November due to an ill-timed move during training. This forced him to leave his title defense against Stipe Miocic at UFC 295. ‘Bones’ had never lost a fight, as Dana White recently reiterated while calling him the best P4P fighter in the world, so this injury was a huge blow to his career and training. Even after Islam Makhachev won against Dustin Poirier, White still considered Jones the best fighter. However ‘Bones’ had to face a huge setback in his career that made a gap in his resume. Nevertheless, now the water is under the bridge, and the news has it that the legendary heavyweight fighter is training again!
Meanwhile, a new video clip is circulating the UFC world, showing the moment when Jones first got to know how grave his pectoral tear was. UFC fans witnessed the emotions of the UFC CEO Dana White, Hunter Campbell, and Jones in that video and can see how affected they were by the news. The footage that is doing rounds on the internet is from a UFC behind-the-scenes documentary. This is where ‘Bones’ is showing the video of how he got injured while training. As the heavyweight champ was explaining the incident, he informed them that he was still waiting on the results. However, Campbell already knew the result and disclosed it with a heavy heart.
He said gravely, “I got the results, you are out six months to a year, you gotta go on surgery.” Jones was in utter shock even though the champ seemed to be composed. Jones said, “You’re lying,” however, Campbell had to tell him the hard truth and even swore on his life.
He said that it was a full tear and needed surgery which would need Jones to rest for 6 months to a year, and this devastated the champ. Campbell further explained, pointing to his shoulder, “It completely separated and popped. So you cannot rehab you have to go to surgery and we will send you to whoever is the best fu** surgeon in LA to get you dialed in but 6 months just to just rest and then you probably gonna have to gingerly figure out when you are ready.”

There was a moment where Jones seemed to lose his bearings and was struggling to hold back tears. He even told Dana White, “I don’t wanna cry in front of you.” Astonishingly, the UFC head honcho was heartbroken as well and said he was teary-eyed too! He said, “I wanna cry,” but they both kept their composure.
Nevertheless, the time has passed with Jones healing well, and now he is training again which is really good news for UFC. Dana White has been showering him with compliments lately after UFC 302 and White considers him to be the best P4P fighter. In the meantime, he might also be making plans for Jones to come back!

Jones confirms his fight against Stipe Miocic
During his healing period, Jones spent his free time attending many events, and he even met Francis Ngannou for a second time during PFL vs Bellator. Jones also spent time with rugby players from the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs team down in Australia. However, now he is ready to be back and training again according to reports. He even uploaded pictures of him in the gym!
Dana White seems to have confirmed a fight between Miocic and ‘Bones’ a few weeks before UFC 300 happened. He was talking with hosts of TNT Sports and assured fans that nothing could change his stance about this fight. However, the exact date of the fight was yet to be decided.

With Jones and Miocic both willing for the clash, the fight could likely happen towards the end of the year. Perhaps, it could be rescheduled for the UFC’s visit to MSG yet again. This might be what the promotion wants but it will have stagnated the division for a full year. Further, it makes Tom Aspinall’s interim title all the more meaningless, especially after the UFC put him up to defend the belt against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304.
As of now, there is no timetable for his fight but he could face Miocic very soon. Are you excited for his comeback? Let us know in the comments.
