UFC champion Jon Jones might call his career after fighting Stipe Miocic at Madison Square Garden. ‘Bones’, whose career is marred with multiple hiatuses and controversies, recently returned to Octagon after another hiatus of three years. While fans expected a prolonged dominance at 265 lbs, the heavyweight champion has decided to curtail his championship tenure. But he might reconsider his decision only if a potential fight with a heavyweight star is on the horizon.
The 35-year-old bagged the right to defend the title in front of his home crowd in New York after clinching the title against Ciryl Gane at UFC 285. Further, the showdown with Stipe Miocic might be the last time the fans might witness Jones in action in spite of surging contenders popping up such as Sergei Pavlovich. However, the Rochester native believes he has justified his time inside Octagon.

He said, “Right now, my goal is to have one more big fight against Stipe Miocic, Madison Square Garden and then kinda hang it up from there.”
“I think the Stipe fight will be plenty for me. I feel like I don’t really have much to prove after beating Stipe Miocic,” he added later.
Following this, the 27-1-1 record holder mentioned the age was catching up to him and he had been fighting for a long time. He sustained injuries along the way and now wanted to spend time with his family and kids.
However, he still envied a fight against Francis Ngannou, which never materialized after lengthy negotiations broke down between them. The blockbuster fight might garner enormous revenue and be worthwhile for Jones’ return.
Only Francis Ngannou could deter Jones from hanging his gloves
The heavyweight lynchpin said, “I do believe a Francis Ngannou fight would be worth entertaining, not retiring. I think a Francis fight would come with some serious revenue and that would make it worth my while.”
Lastly, Jones candidly accepted that money might be a major motivator to make his comeback. He stated, “It would bring in a lot of money and for that I would be willing to come back.”‘
