Khabib Nurmagomedov once wrestled a bear when he was just a little kid. And if you don’t believe it, there’s footage! Fast forward to 2025, and somehow the stakes have escalated. Forget bears—the internet wants to know if 100 trained UFC fighters could take down one angry gorilla. The idea may sound ripped straight from a fever dream, but it’s just the internet being itself.

The debate kicked off when a random user went viral by claiming that 100 regular humans, not fighters or athletes, could defeat a gorilla in unarmed combat. In an instant, the post went viral with timelines being flooded by different opinions and ideas. Not jokingly, but with mostly a straight face. UFC stars were dragged into it, memes flooded timelines, and chaos, as always, took the wheel.

Mr.Beast, the biggest YouTuber on the planet, jumped into the trend with a video idea as he wrote on X, “Need 100 men to test this, any volunteers?”. Without missing a beat, Bo Nickal raised his hand, writing, “I’m in.”  But before he volunteers his services to solve the debate, Nickal will be taking on Reinier De Ridder at UFC on ESPN 67 in Des Moines, Iowa!

Nickal might’ve just wanted to join the fun, but the internet turned it into a war room. Let’s break it down. Silverback gorillas weigh upwards of 430 pounds, can lift more than 1,800 pounds, and have a bite force of over 1,300 PSI. Basically, think of a furry tank with tree-trunks for limbs limbs and daggers for teeth.

But this wasn’t the first time a fighter has tried to pit themselves against a gorilla. Because Mike Tyson didn’t need 99 other men to back him up, he wanted to take one on in single combat. ‘Iron Mike’ once shared that he offered a zookeeper $10,000 to let him fight a gorilla back in the 80s! According to Tyson’s story, “They were so powerful but their eyes were like an innocent infant. I offered the attendant $10,000 to open the cage and let me smash that silverback’s snotbox! He declined.”

Unfortunately, we’ll never know the answer as to who would win—Mike Tyson or a gorilla. But 100 UFC fighters vs one silverback juggernaut? The internet had plenty to say about it, and here’s a look at some of the takes by the netizens!

Khabib Nurmagomedov, Jon Jones, and more get drafted into the fans ‘dream team’ vs a gorilla

The Dagestani legend has become the internet’s go-to answer for any animal-based combat scenario. Why? Because if little Khabib Nurmagomedov could grapple a bear cub, what’s a 400-pound gorilla to a fully grown Eagle? What do you think?

“Khabib probably wrestled this same gorilla when he was 5 years old”

Islam Makhachev, the UFC lightweight champion and Nurmagomedov’s protege, was once asked about his chances against a kangaroo. Well, the fans used his response as their ammunition to proclaim that Dagestani grappling will be dominant against a gorilla as well! It looks like even in hypothetical jungle warfare, wrestling stays king for some fans.

“Gorilla have good striking, but somebody have to check the grappling bratha.”

Others began assembling their Avengers-style elite squads for the task. Nurmagomedov and Georges St-Pierre would take the big boy down, while Khamzat Chimaev and Jon Jones would finish it off. If any four could pull it off, it might be these guys. But again, have they tried dodging a close to 25-mph charge from an 8-foot-tall muscle wall? Only one way to find out!

“khabib and gsp gets him down and khamzat and jones chokes him easy”

Well, if the grappling gets shut down, one user called upon heavyweight power to the rescue. Tom Aspinall’s blinding speed and Francis Ngannou’s earth-shattering power, if anyone’s throwing knockout shots that matter, it’s these two. Still, how do you KO something with a jaw built for grinding tree bark to a pulp?

“Aspinall and Ngannou get it done”

Amidst the strategy and team-ups, Belal Muhammad caught an unfortunate stray from one fan. No 100 men are needed, just ‘Remember the Name’ grinding out a decision for 5 rounds and getting the judges’ nods.

“Belal by Decision”

This might be the most grounded opinion. The sheer number of trained fighters could, in theory, swarm and smother the gorilla. Even if the animal manages to take out a few, the energy cost is also a factor. If he gets tired out by the first wave, the second wave could get the job done. The question is, will they be able to last till then?

“People don’t understand how many people 100 is.”

So, where does that leave us in the great Gorilla vs. 100 UFC Fighters debate? Probably nowhere closer to a real answer—but a whole lot richer in laughs, theories, and internet madness. From Khabib Nurmagomedov’s bear-hugging past to Bo Nickal’s willingness to throw hands with a gorilla, this viral showdown shows no signs of slowing down.
