Jon Jones has taken the excitement of the fight fans up a notch for his return to the UFC to fight Stipe Miocic and defend his championship title. The fight was initially planned to take place about a year ago, at UFC 295. However, the world of mixed martial arts gasped as Jones tore his pectoral muscle. This resulted in the cancelation of the much-awaited fight in the heavyweight realm. But hey, at least we got our interim heavyweight champion thanks to that. Nevertheless, the matchup between Jones and Miocic wasn’t completely out of the question. It was just a matter of time till Jones healed up. To the fighting community’s relief, ‘Bones’ has now come forth with yet another update.
The heavyweight champion bounced back to his training regime pretty quickly following a successful surgery. By the end of April 2024, ‘Bones’ joined his gym and confirmed that he was still going to fight ‘Stone Cold’. But the troubles didn’t leave the champ alone. He was accused of mistreating an agent from ‘Dr*g-Free Sport’. The talk of the town is he might have to spend some time in prison because of this. Despite the troubles, Jones hasn’t stopped putting his health on the line. But what did he have to say just a day before his birthday? Let’s find out.

On the 19th of July, one day before his birthday, Jones took to Instagram and shared a couple of videos showing his bodyweight workouts. The pull-ups and the hanging leg lifts showed the status of his pecs, even though his form wasn’t the best one needed for the exercises. Needless to say, the fight fans are in for a treat in just a few weeks’ time. In the caption of the IG post, he gave an update that enhanced the fans’ entropy by a thousand folds.
Jones wrote, “Tomorrow, I’ll be 37 years old !! I’m 260 pounds 16 weeks away from fighting the most decorated heavyweight in UFC history. I feel like I’m in a great spot right before training camp ramps up. My form is far from perfect in these videos, but I’m happy with it considering the surgeries I recently had. 16 more weeks to become the beast, that’s exactly what I will do.”
The heavyweight champ had previously declared that he desired to fight at the Madison Square Garden on the 9th of November. His social media post simply confirms that Jones wasn’t kidding. Nevertheless, ‘Bones’ seemed pretty proud of himself for still striving. He continued, “Tomorrow I’ll be 37 years old, still in the gym, still putting my health on the line, still competing in one of the worlds most difficult sports. I’m proud of myself.”

Despite the problems the HW division faced in the past year, things are surely going in the right direction. Even the UFC CEO, Dana White said so. But with the legal issues revolving around the champ, will he be able to enter the Octagon on the speculated date?
‘Bones’ vs. ‘The Silencer’ might just be in jeopardy
In an interview with ‘TNT Sports’, the UFC head honcho declared that Jones and Miocic are destined to clash in the most exciting way possible. There was simply no chance for the fight to get scrapped off the charts. And Tom Aspinall would get his chance at the title, after Miocic. White said, “Jones is set to fight Stipe. I hope the winner of that fight will fight Tom.” Although the date wasn’t fixed by that time, Jones took the liberty of giving the MMA fans a possible date, as mentioned above.

In case the court finds Jones guilty of the charge, he might have to spend about a year in jail along with a hefty fine. Without a doubt, it will jeopardize the clash of the heavyweight once again.
