Are UFC fighters underpaid compared to the massive earnings in Jake Paul's boxing match?

UFC 309 was not only a night of incredible fights but also a showcase of the UFC’s Promotional Guidelines Compliance (PGC) pay. It is a comprehensive plan that includes outfitting requirements, media obligations, and other items under the fighter code of conduct, and replaces the previous payments made under the UFC Athlete Outfitting Policy.

The amount a fighter receives through this compliance pay can vary. Fighters who have a higher profile, such as champions or established stars, generally receive a higher payout. But how much did the fighters make after the MSG PPV card? Let us find out about it below.

The PGC pay program incentivizes fighters to engage in specific promotional activities, including social media promotions, interviews, and other media appearances. Most notably, the UFC, in partnership with its official outfitting partner Venum, paid out a six-figure total in compliance pay, amounting to $262,500 for the UFC 309 PPV event.

Jon Jones, who headlined the card against Stipe Miocic, earned a substantial payout. As the UFC heavyweight champion, Jones was guaranteed the highest tier compliance pay of $42000 for his outing at the event. The other main-eventer, Stipe Miocic, despite the loss, earned a respectable sum for his efforts. Miocic’s nineteenth appearance in the promotion saw him earn a competitive payout of $32,000.

Charles Oliveira who fought in the co-main event, also made a notable income from his appearance. The Brazilian along with his opponent Michael Chandler took away $21,000 and $6,000 respectively from the night.

Jake Paul reminds the world how his fight overshadowed the UFC 309 event

The Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing fight recently earned an estimated $100 million in total revenue, including a live gate of $18.1 million. This massive payday was fueled by the combination of pay-per-view sales, sponsorships, and media deals, with both fighters walking away with substantial earnings.

Jake Paul reportedly earned around $40 million, while Mike Tyson’s payout was estimated at $20 million. The event attracted a massive audience, solidifying its place as one of the highest-grossing non-traditional boxing matches in recent years.

The 27-year-old wasted no time in letting the world know how he felt about the success. Biggest attendance of Mike Tyson’s career. Biggest viewership of Mike Tyson’s career. Biggest gate of Mike Tyson’s career outside of Vegas. Biggest combat sports gate in US combat sports history outside of Las Vegas.”
