Jon Jones seems to be keeping himself busy these days—but not with matters regarding his heavyweight championship. Instead, the consensus MMA GOAT has been diving into action movie roles and even linking up with none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger. Are these actions painting a picture whose significance is going unnoticed by the fight community? A post-retirement routine? A blueprint of the life after ‘Bones’ hangs up his gloves for good?
Meanwhile, the interim champ Tom Aspinall is left waiting—and growing more frustrated by the day. The radio silence from Jones regarding a heavyweight title unification bout has been deafening. However, the New Mexico resident has been pretty keen on a super fight with 205lbs champ Alex Pereira. Nonetheless, it is safe to say that the heavyweight kingpin has entered the last phase of his illustrious career. The end is near! So, what does Chael Sonnen think about all this? A lot. And one of his strongest beliefs? Jon Jones is already thinking about his final fight before retirement.
In a recent YouTube video, ‘The Bad Guy’ shared an intriguing take on the rumors surrounding Jones turning down a fight with Alex Pereira: “I have two very strong, personal, and unique beliefs. The first of which is that Jon Jones has never turned down the fight with Alex Pereira that you believe he has. My personal and strong belief is that Jon has never actually been offered that fight. I want to start with that.”

“Secondly, I do believe that after the fight, Jon is going to be done. I don’t think you’ll see Jon compete anymore. So I will stand by—if you get to Jones vs. Pereira, it’s because we failed to get to Jones vs. Aspinall, and I am extremely confident that Jones will be in there either with Pereira or with Aspinall as his final fight.”
In a major relief for the fans, White recently appeared on the Jim Rome show and stated, “The plan is [for Aspinall] to fight Jon this summer. Obviously when, where and all that stuff is being determined. My goal this year is to make that fight [with] Aspinall. I think that the fight that everybody wants to see right now is Jones and Aspinall, and then there’s no doubt that Pereira could fight the winner.”

So, is this super fight actually happening? Has Jon Jones made anything official? According to Sonnen—not at all. For now, the UFC has yet to confirm Jones’ next move, and ‘Bones’ himself remains silent about his future. But if Sonnen is right, Jones’ next fight—whether against Alex Pereira or Tom Aspinall—could be the final chapter of his legendary career.

Is the heavyweight title fight brewing between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall?
In his latest YouTube video, Chael Sonnen dropped another bombshell—his inside sources told him that Jon Jones was never even offered a fight against Tom Aspinall. Sonnen explained: “I have my ear to the grindstone. It’s very hard to have a secret around here that I don’t hear about. Just the truth, and that’s why I don’t go looking for it. This one, I have gone on and looked for. And my sources are telling me Jon Jones has not turned that fight down.”

Even though it’s clear that Alex Pereira is the first choice for ‘Bones’, UFC head honcho Dana White previously stated he was “100% sure” a fight with Aspinall would happen. But here’s where Sonnen’s logic makes sense—the UFC has yet to make any official announcement or set a date. The head honcho’s confidence is palpable but until the agreements have been officially signed, nothing can be said with certainty.
But where’s the same kind of declaration from Jones or Aspinall? Nowhere. With no confirmation from the UFC or the fighters themselves, something big could be brewing beneath the surface. Will the UFC finally book Jones vs. Aspinall, or is Pereira truly next in line? What do you think? Drop your thoughts in the comments below!
