UFC legend Michael Bisping found himself on the wrong side of affairs as UFC star Justin Gaethje ripped him apart after UFC 286. The lightweight fighter expressed strong distaste for the UFC Hall of Famer‘s commentator’s desk job. The comments further ignited a backlash against him as fans questioned his credibility as a commentator. Notably, the British had assumed the side desk duties after the UFC commentator Joe Rogan excused himself due to unforeseen circumstances. However, the trip to London didn’t turn out to be a pleasant one. Amidst the backlash, fellow commentator Jon Anik came to the former UFC champion’s aid.
Jon Anik shields Michael Bisping after Gaethje’s comments
Notably, the UFC personnel took to his Twitter handle as he voiced his support for ‘The Count’. The 44-year-old penned two tweets as he hit back at ‘The Highlight’. In the first tweet, he mentioned the former Middleweight champion neither possesses any agenda nor bias while calling fights. In addition, the Boston native pointed out the relationship Bisping shared with Kamaru Usman.

Thus, he wrote, “1) Must say in defense of my broadcast partner @bisping, the man has zero agenda nor any bias when calling fights. Might even have closer personal relationship w/ Kamaru Usman than he does Leon Edwards. He just felt as though Edwards controlled the stand-up, landed more cleanly.”

Following this, the former ESPN anchor pointed out the hardships involved in the job of an MMA commentator. Also, he informed the imperfect aspect of the job.
Hence, he addressed, “2) The job of MMA commentator is not as hard as that of fighter, judge, or referee, but it’s hard. We are judged on every utterance over 8+ hours and certainly there are things we’d love to take back. Someone is usually upset w/ something. Never had a perfect show. Never will.”

Anik, after being involved for decades in the profession and an ardent passion for sports commentating, could resonate with Bisping, who recently transitioned to the profession. The MMA fighter-turned-actor in return extended his gratefulness to him.

However, this consideration wasn’t borne in mind when the # 3 ranked lightweight spoke his mind.
Justin Gaethje’s earlier jibe at Bisping

Thus, he put forth, “But I’m probably as biased as the judges. Certainly not as biased as Michael Bisping. He shouldn’t have been nowhere near a microphone during that fight.”
