The entire world of mixed martial arts gasped as the judges’ scorecards were tilted in favor of Ciryl Gane and not Alexander Volkov at UFC 310. This was an outcome that garnered quite a bit of attention from the fighting community. And let me tell you, they were not happy with the results. Even Joe Rogan was caught giving a hilarious reaction as ‘Bon Gamin’ was declared the winner of the bout.

‘Spinnin Backfist’ happened to capture this moment and shared the visual on Instagram. The picture showed the UFC color commentator in utter disbelief as Bruce Buffer announced Gane as the winner via split decision. ‘Spinnin Backfist’ captioned the post on Instagram, “Joe could not BELIEVE the Gane/Volkov decision,” followed by a crying emoji and a hashtag for UFC 310

The Parisian dominated the first round of their fight and all three judges, Adalaide Byrd, Eric Colon, and Junichiro Kamijo, scored the round 10-9 in Gane’s favor. The second round, however, seemed to go for the Russian heavyweight. But the surprise came in when the final scorecard read 29-28, 28-29, and 29-28, with Gane claiming the win.

Well, Rogan wasn’t the only one shocked by the announcement. Dana White also believed that Volkov had won the bout. As the 6-ft-7 fighter was leaving the cage, the UFC head honcho came in for a brief talk with him. Later in the post-fight press conference, he expressed his views and apologized to Volkov for his loss.

White also had an interaction with the head of the commission right after the fight. Talking to the media during the press conference, the UFC CEO said, “The head of the commission came over and said, ‘Listen, we feel like that second round was close, and you know, could have gone either way. And both guys rocked. We thought that…’ I can’t remember which one they thought had the worst of it in the second round. But you know, they were making the argument on why the fight was judged the way it was.”

But did you know that ‘Bon Gamin’ was also unhappy with his win? Well, he did storm out of the Octagon in what seemed to be absolute distress. But what did he have to say? Let’s find out!

Ciryl Gane reveals his disappointment at his split decision win over Alexander Volkov at UFC 310

Talking to the UFC color commentator in the post-fight interview, Gane weighed in on his controversial victory. He said, “It was really tight, he did a really great job. I know I had him in some danger; that’s maybe why the judges chose me.” But that wasn’t the reason why the French mixed martial artist was upset.

In the first round, ‘Drago’ began the fight with 2 kicks to measure up his opponent. And ‘Bon Gamin’ did the same after circling a bit. However, Gane’s probe kick resulted in an injury. He continued, “I’m not happy about my fight. I broke my toes in the first second of the fight. I got a win but I’m not happy.”

While the entire fanbase kept on booing the judges for their decision, Dana White made a comment that proved how powerless he actually was. He claimed that it simply didn’t matter who he thought won the fight. It all lay in the hands of the judges and the commission. Nevertheless, it was ‘Drago’ who won as per the fighting community.
