The Oscars 2022 was in the news, more for the Will Smith-Chris Rock saga rather than the actual ceremony. It appeared the incident caught the whole world’s attention, as almost everybody gave their opinion on the matter, including the late actor and standup comedian Gilbert Gottfried.

Gottfried before his demise shared a post that quietly hinted at support for the fellow comedian Chris Rock.

The veteran comedian had captioned his post with a question, “Which is the worst crime? Chris Rock being physically assaulted or Chris Rock telling a joke?”
Will Smith had taken offense to a joke made by the comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars 2022.
This was the last post from the legendary comedian on his official Instagram. Though Gottfried didn’t give any opinion on the matter directly, sharing an old picture with Chris Rock indicates his support for the fellow comedian.
Apart from this post, Gottfried was a guest on the JRE podcast before his passing. Joe Rogan and Gottfried had a three-hour conversation where the veteran star talked about his journey throughout the years and more.

Joe Rogan thinks the Chris Rock joke was mild, and Will Smith overreacted
The former Fear Factor host reacted to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock during the live event that’s watched around the globe. According to Rogan, Smith made an error in doing so.
Rogan said, “Chris Rock said one of the most mild jokes ever.”

Rogan also pointed out that Smith initially took the joke lightly. However, upon Jada Pinkett’s reaction to the joke, Smith decided to take the outrageous action.
The JRE host stressed that it was a ‘mild joke’ and not an ‘insult’ when Josh Barnett, the guest, tried to look into Will Smith’s mind.
