Did Joe Rogan's blunder ruin the integrity of Ronaldo Rodriguez's win at UFC 306?

The UFC 306 main card kicked off with an absolute banger of a back-and-forth contest between Ode Osbourne and Ronaldo Rodriguez, making for some amazing moments. One of those moments saw the former try a submission attempt that had Joe Rogan very excited during commentary. However, the fans didn’t seem too excited to listen to the 57-year-old’s enthusiasm.

During the first and second rounds, Ode Osbourne had a few advantageous moments where he could have finished Ronaldo Rodriguez. When he locked the arm triangle in on the Mexican contender in the opening round, it seemed as if the deal was done for the Mexican star. However, his resilience paid dividends, and he escaped from that predicament. Meanwhile, another submission chance for Ode Osbourne came during the second round, when he caught Ronaldo Rodriguez with a guillotine. That looked really bad for ‘Lazy Boy’, but just like in the first round, he managed to get out of a submission move once more.

Thereafter, the fight went to the ground on several occasions, but it went to the distance. As the three rounds ended, the judges scored 29-28, 29-27,29-27 in favor of Ronaldo Rodriguez, who would take the win via unanimous decision. While the fight went on, Joe Rogan’s excitement was there for all to see since he just couldn’t contain himself, but the fans didn’t seem to like his commentary too much.

When Ode Osbourne caught Ronaldo Rodriguez in a guillotine choke, Joe Rogan started screaming off his lungs, but the fans didn’t share the same level of excitement as an X user tweeted“[Joe Rogan] stfu about the leg triangle,” sounding his frustrations with the color commentator because Rodriguez would later escape from that submission move.

Things weren’t getting any easier for Joe Rogan on social media because one fan called out, not only him but also Daniel Cormier, as they were left unimpressed with their commentary chops. “[UFC] needs to get rid of [Joe Rogan] and [Daniel Cormier],” another fan added. For Rogan, it was another moment for him to jump out of his seat as he yelled out on commentary about the second-round submission move from Ode Osbourne, but one fan found that funny as he stated, “Joe Rogan “He’s got the neck, he’s got the neck” funny every time.”

The fans left no stone unturned in trying to vent out their frustrations with Joe Rogan’s over-the-top reactions. “Joe Rogan commentary is so a**,” a fan stated while doubling down on disliking the 57-year-old’s role of calling fights. Combat Sports regulatory lawyer Erik Magraken also joined the conversation, taking a slight jab at Rogan’s commentary role, just like the aforementioned fans. “Joe Rogan saying “that’s tight” means the fighter will escape,” he tweeted. Nevertheless, the longtime commentator still had some support from fans, but they still have an issue with him yelling all the time. One of those fans tweeted, “I normally love Joe Rogan but got damn why is he yelling commentary?”

UFC 306 at the Sphere showcased spectacle visuals and understandably, Joe Rogan was excited like he’s never been. Regardless, what do you think about his commentary blunders? Drop your comments below.
