Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski is a true anomaly. He just seems to be getting better with age. In combat sports, age plays a massive role in the performance of a fighter. However, there are some exceptions like Arlovski. The 46-year-old recently took on Terrance Hodges in the co-main event of the Dirty Boxing Championship (DBX 1). Arlovski dominated the fight just like in his days in the UFC and was the better fighter over two rounds. His excellent striking and pressure forced the judges to award him a victory via a technical knockout because of a doctor’s stoppage.

Of all the people Joe Rogan and Brendan Schaub were highly impressed with the way he carried on his business. In a recent episode of JRE Fight Companion, the 57-year-old UFC color commentator praised the fighter for his longevity in the sport. While speaking to Schaub he said, ”Arlovski man, who takes a licking and keeps on ticking better than Andrei Arlovski? That dude is still around. He was the UFC champion in 2005 son. That’s 20 fu*king years ago of hardcore combat sports in MMA. That is nuts…He’s such a veteran, he’s been there, done that forever.” Getting praised by Rogan is one of the biggest things for any fighter. But for the former UFC champion, it was a surprise.

While speaking to Mike Perry on his OverDogs Podcast, the 46-year-old was asked by the host, “Did you see Joe Rogan and Brendan Schaub talking about you ?” The clip was shared by Perry on his Instagram account and during the clip ‘The Pitbull’ said, “I saw today that video somebody sent me a clip and I reposted. And I was surprised because Joe Rogan’s first time said something nice about me.” In the video, the 46-year-old pointed out how Rogan made fun of his appearance at UFC 44 in September 26, 2003. This was the same fight card that the legendary former UFC fighter Randy Couture was also a part of.

Rogan was pretty amazed by Couture’s fitness who was in his 40s during that event. However, it was Arlovski who failed to impress Rogan and he shared the story while speaking to Perry, He said, When I fought back in 2004-05, I was on the same card with Randy Couture. He said ” Oh Randy” when Randy walked to the Octagon, ‘Randy looks like a f…ng young guy, he looks like he’s 40 but looks f..ng like 25.’ And when I was walking to the Octagon, he said ‘Arlovski, he’s 20 something but he looks like 40’.”

The veteran former UFC heavyweight continued, “I said, ‘Come on guy, what do you mean [he] looks like [he’s] 40?’ And then that’s it. Yeah, I really appreciate what Joe said, and then when Brendan Schaub said. Thank you very much.” But is this the only time when Rogan praised the former UFC champion. Well, not really.

Rogan along with his guests, Eddie Bravo, Joey Diaz, and Brendan Schaub were absolutely fascinated with Arlovski. The 57-year-old even pulled out his record and said, “Bro Arlovski is still doing the damn thing. Still good f..ng defense. His chin did not fall apart. I ran into him the other day with his son’s. He is still there. He’s great. Bro Arlovski was a champion twenty years ago. Bro, when he was on top he was insane. When he was in his early twenties, he was so good. “

Despite parting ways with the UFC, ‘The Pitbull’ is still showcasing his skills under a different banner. It seems he is definitely proving that ‘age’ is just a number. How highly do you rate Andrei Arlovski as a fighter? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
