More than a year after his victory over Ciryl Gane in the first round in March 2023, UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones returned to the Octagon to defeat Stipe Miocic at Madison Square Garden in New York at UFC 309. But do you know that to prepare for this clash against the Croatian, Jon Jones collaborated with the Frenchman and Muay Thai legend, Jean-Charles Skarbowsky? Well, he did, and it turns out that Joe Rogan is actually a massive fan of the Frenchman. But how do we know that?
Well, that’s because Joe Rogan’s DMs have been leaked. No, they haven’t been leaked by a hacker of sorts. Instead, it was the legend Jean-Charles Skarbowsky himself who took to Instagram to share a message sent to him by Joe Rogan. So, what did the JRE host say? The UFC commentator revealed in a message that he is a big fan of the Frenchman, and it is an honor to get to connect with him.
The text read, “Hey brother I just started following you so I just now am seeing your message. I’m a big fan of yours too. It’s an honor to connect with you.” Replying to it through his caption of the post, Jean-Charles Skarbowsky wrote, “An honor to know that you appreciate me brother @joerogan.” The Muay Thai legend had become known to the general public thanks to his mythical appearance in the show ‘The Ultimate Fighter.’

He was the one who provoked his meeting with Jon Jones. Jean-Charles Skarbowsky was invited by Canadian fighting icon Georges St-Pierre on the set of season TUF 12, “The Ultimate Fighter: Team GSP vs. Team Koschek” in a coaching role. He flew in from France at GSP’s request. What surprised everyone was not his out-of-shape look, but how he manhandled all the prospects while looking like your average Joe (not Rogan). According to John Danher, “Apparently, Jean-Charles only sleeps like 3 hours a night and before practice, he gets wasted…”

While there, he offered his services to the UFC heavyweight champion if he wished to learn a new trick or two. As we all know, Jones did accept the offer and won the fight. Now with new tricks up his sleeve, he reportedly wants a massive $30 million payday to fight Tom Aspinall. So, will Dana White agree to do so? Joe Rogan has the answer.
Joe Rogan reveals Dana White denied Jon Jones’ request
The UFC is willing to break the piggy bank for Jon Jones, but they will not pay him a savage sum of money. A few weeks ago on his podcast, Joe Rogan claimed to have heard a rumor about the UFC shelling out $30 million dollars to persuade Jones to defend his heavyweight belt against Tom Aspinall, interim champion. Well, on the same podcast episode, the JRE host came out to deny the rumor after being contacted by Dana White himself.

The UFC commentator said on JRE #2253 with guest Theo Von, “I had heard a rumor that Jon Jones wanted $30 million to fight Tom Aspinall—and I did hear that rumor. And I did hear the UFC said yes, but it is not true. So Dana contacted me and said that rumor was bulls**t. So I felt obligated to tell everybody that was a fake rumor.” This may not be the case, but it wouldn’t be the first time Jones has demanded an astronomical figure to fight.
He spent more than three years in inactivity for apparently demanding a very high sum for a super fight with Francis Ngannou that never materialized. In the end, when it came time for him to finally make his return to the octagon, ‘Bones’ shared the octagon with Ciryl Gane. But what do you think? Will Jon Jones get his demands met this time? Let us know in the comments.
