Is UFC's judging credibility crumbling under the weight of biased decisions like Fakhretdinov vs. Leal?

H͏ave y͏ou͏ notic͏ed any bia͏se͏d judging at ͏recent UF͏C fights͏?͏ Joe Rogan c͏ertainly has. ͏The m͏ulti-mil͏lion͏-dollar podcast͏er re͏cently call͏ed͏ out some of ͏t͏he jud͏ges at UFC 308 for the͏ir irr͏a͏tionally b͏iased s͏coring͏. Rogan believes the judges͏ shouldn’͏t ev͏en b͏e pa͏rt of the promotion. The first fight of the night between Rinat Fakhretdinov and Carlos Leal started a debate in the community as the judges gifted the victory to Fakhretdinov despite the fact that Leal showcased better fighting. This, as well as the Magomed Ankalaev fight, forced Joe Rogan to comment on the lowering standards of judging.

While conversing on the UFC 308 JRE Fight Companion, the multi-million dollar podcaster emphasized that some of the promotion’s judging aspects appear sketchy: We’ve had some decisions that were f—ing [sketchy]. I think they bring the same judges everywhere [but] I don’t know.” said Rogan. This statement by the podcaster has found some support from Carlos Leal, who was robbed of his victory.

While having a conversation with Verdict MMA, Carlos Leal emphasized that he was absolutely certain of his victory until the referee raised Fakhretdinov’s arms in the air, “I truly believe I won that fight against Rinat Fakhretdinov and was wronged by the judging.” According to Verdict MMA, Fakhretdinov scored 27.96 in their bout, while on the other hand, Leal scored 29.09 in their fight. Despite the fact that Leal had more control over the match, David Lethaby, Hadi Mohamad Ali and Mike Bell turned the match in Fakhretdinov’s favor.

Witnessing these lapses in judgment, Joe Rogan threw a nasty jab at the judges in his podcast, “I don’t know what the rules are… But I think the judges for the most part are the same judges. I think they are like travelling judges like the judges they think are the good judges. I think some of them are good judges. But every now and then you get a decision where you’re like whoever the f–k thought the fight went that way really shouldn’t be doing this on a professional level.”

The MMA community is furious after the horrendous judging and has called out Dana White to make changes accordingly. Well, despite the bogus judging, Fakhretdinov believes that he won the fight.

Carlos Leal and Joe Rogan’s rant didn’t budge Rinat Fakhretdinov, who is not buying the bogus judging aspect

Talking to the media, Fakhretdinov said, “Why were they surprised with the decision? Really bad commentators. The first round was pretty close. It could’ve gone either way. I didn’t have any doubt the second or third round was mine. After your words, people will say again the Arabs bought the decision.”

He doubled down on his statements and predicted the same fate for anyone who steps in the cage with him – “Anyone from the top 15, top 10, if you put in front of me will be the same. I will get the win. Maybe it’s not going to be easy. It’s going to be a hard win, but I’m going to win.”

Joe Rogan’s analogy might be with merit because even MMA Decisions scored the card in favor of Carlos Leal. Will this fiasco, force the UFC CEO to make necessary changes in the judging aspect? State your thoughts in the comments below.
