The MMA community and Israel Adesanya were left in a daze when Dricus Du Plessis submitted ‘The Last Stylebender’ in the fourth round to defend his title at UFC 305 successfully. It was a rather shock for the entire community as Adesanya entered the Octagon as a favorite at -120 against ‘StillKnocks’, who was an underdog at +100. Well, one could say that everyone was pretty biased as they underestimated Du Plessis, and among them was none other than color commentator Joe Rogan, who couldn’t believe what he witnessed.

The million-dollar podcaster witnessed the submission victory back in the States along with his friends Brendan Schaub and Tony Hinchcliffe on ‘Fight Companion.’  Joe Rogan’s reaction to Adesanya’s loss got the entire town talking about his biased nature. Well, days after the loss, a UFC insider and Rogan’s friend has come forward to take a stance for his colleague.

Joe Rogan was rooting for Israel Adesanya’s victory at UFC 305. The commentator was confident until the fourth round as ‘StyleBender’ was gaining momentum in the fight. However, everything changed when Du Plessis caught Adesanya with a combination of punches. “Dude, dude, dude. Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God. He hurt him, dude. He hurt him.” His voice was shaking when he witnessed Du Plessis choke Adesanya. Well, after the event, the entire UFC community called out Joe Rogan for his biased behavior toward Dricus Du Plessis.

Regardless, can we blame Joe Rogan for his behavior? Well, according to Michael Bisping, certainly not. The former middleweight champion recently discussed his YouTube handle, where he had a short but brief discussion about Rogan’s reaction. While talking about UFC 305, Bisping said, “Listen, Izzy’s been around the UFC for a long time. Joe has called a lot of his fights. I don’t know if he’s been on the podcast or not. I know that Izzy came out and stood up for Joe Rogan when there was a bit of controversy,” said Bisping.

He further added, “And you’re a fan of the guy’s career, and I think the more time you’re around, it’s only natural that you build relationships with people. As long as it doesn’t affect him being able to call a fight as he sees it, there’s nothing wrong with having a bit of respect for the career and maybe personally, privately leaning one way. He wasn’t calling the fight. I don’t necessarily have an issue with that, to be quite frank.”

It must be noted that Rogan indeed praised Du Plessis for his fight, “Dricus is a f***ing animal, dude. He’s a f***ing animal. Holy sh*t.” The podcaster ascertained that Du Plessis was a better man that night, however, despite his efforts to be neutral, he was called out for his basic behavior. Regardless, now that Israel Adesanya has lost two fights back-to-back, what’s his fate in the UFC? Let’s find out.

As said by Michael Bisping, every fighter can have a peak once in his career and it appears Israel Adesanya might be facing the same issue. In a career spanning over a decade, he had never been finished—until he faced Dricus Du Plessis. So, what’s next for the champ? Well, according to Kamaru Usman, Adesanya should be fighting some new names now, “Where does Israel go from here? A lot of people were thinking he was going to retire. But you saw him at the end, he said, ‘I’m not leaving. I’m not f**king leaving,” said Usman.

He further added, “Give him new blood. Give him something that’s gonna be intriguing. There’s intriguing fights right now. You’ve got [Nassourdine] Imavov. You’ve got Khamzat Chimaev.” New fights might give an essence of thrill to Adesanya, which he might be missing from his fights. Regardless, what’s your take on Israel Adesanya’s career trajectory?
