Starting off with a simple idea for Rogan and others to get together and talk about life, the show has broken many records since then. The JRE, currently housed by audio company Spotify, is most famous amongst groups with an average age of 24.
With insane popularity, the show has also encountered its own set of troubles since the start of 2022. The host of the podcast, Joe Rogan, has been drowning in public backlash and controversy regarding comments made about two separate issues on his podcast multiple times.

During The Joe Rogan Experience Episode #1797 with Josh Barnett, Rogan talked about the various problems that plagued him earlier in 2022 with relevance to the show. The UFC commentator’s words regarding the issue seemed to be as serious as possible and were not good news for fans.
Joe Rogan: Inching towards an Ultimatum for The JRE
Talking about the cancel culture and the overall criticism that he faced regarding the controversies that he’s been involved in, Rogan said, “I will quit. If it gets to a point that I can’t do it anymore, where I have to do it in some sort of weird way where I walk on eggshells and mind my p’s and q’s, f**k that!”
He also stated, “If I become something different because it grew bigger, I will quit.“
The podcast host has clearly been drastically affected by the toll of all the public backlash he’s been taking the past few months.

The first controversy that Joe Rogan was involved in was a compilation of certain things he stated on his podcast repeatedly. This was not well received by the general public and the backlash commenced.
The second controversy began after he hosted a medical worker on his podcast.

The public plastered Rogan as an individual spreading misinformation about topics he rather did not understand well enough. Following these controversies, the podcast host apologized on his social media platforms.

The bottom line remains that Rogan does not like walking on eggshells when it comes to his show. In his opinion, the cancel culture seems to be affecting his show’s creativity. That being said, he believes he cannot go about running it the way he wants it to.
