Joe Rogan likes to stay fit. The JRE podcast host and UFC commentator takes various measures, including supplements, to maintain his buff physique. And the thing that Rogan worries most about is his brain.

The Texas resident, who quit martial arts because he didn’t want to damage his brain, is a longtime supporter of ‘nootropics’. Nootropics are various natural and synthetic molecules that purportedly improve cognitive functions. Rogan, who has launched his own nootropic, Alpha Brain, in collaboration with the health and wellness company Onnit, recommended it to guest Mike Baker on episode #2064 of the JRE podcast.

Rogan told Mike Baker that his Alpha Brain nootropic worked, which had been established by running two double-blind experiments at the Boston Center for Memory. He claimed that it had shown a marked improvement in the subjects’ verbal memory, reaction time, and peak alpha state flow.

“I do have an affiliation with Onnit. So we created this (Alpha Brain) and when we created it… we ran two double-blind placebo-controlled studies at the Boston Center for Memory and it showed increase in verbal memory. It showed increase in reaction time, peak alpha flow state. It works,” Rogan told the former CIA covert operative.

Rogan claimed that the supplement was composed of various nutrients and compounds that had been shown to increase cognitive functioning. These had been combined in the form of a capsule and sold under the Alpha Brain brand name. He told Baker that many of his friends, including UFC Senior Live Director Anthony Giordano, used the supplement and found it beneficial.

“There’s real nutrients that have been shown to enhance memory and what we’ve done is created a synergistic compounded blend of these and we sell it in that form. It’ll help you. There’s tons of my friends who swear by it… My friend Anthony, who’s the director of the UFC, he takes it every time [he is setting up a UFC event],” Rogan said.

A new podcast dethrones JRE on Spotify charts

Joe Rogan’s podcast has been #1 on Spotify for almost all of the time that it has been on the platform. However, comedian and Daily Show host Trevor Noah‘s ‘What Now’ podcast’s debut episode featuring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson managed to briefly knock JRE off #1 on the platform’s Podcast Charts.
