Joe Rogan is a massive figure in the MMA community. During the early era of the UFC, Rogan, with his commentary and educating people about the ins and outs of the ground game, played a massive role in growing the UFC.
Joe Rogan, on his infamous podcast, the JRE, explained how the venue of UFC 270 played a significant role in the outcome of the main event. Earlier at UFC 270, Francis Ngannou unified the UFC HW championship in an emphatic performance against the former interim champion, Ciryl Gane.

On the JRE podcast with Andy Stumpf, when Stumpf asked if Gane could have prevented Ngannou from wearing the knee sleeves, Rogan explained the California commission allowed Ngannou to wear the knee sleeves and Gane had no say in it. Rogan said, “No, no. We’re in California [for UFC 270] and in California, it’s legal to have knee sleeves on.”
Rogan also pointed out that the rules in MMA vary per venue. For instance, some jurisdiction allows fighters to tape their ankles. There are different rules for a downed opponent.
Rogan highlighted, “There are some jurisdictions where they’ll let you tape your ankles. Some commissions will let you tape your ankles. Well, it’s like there are all sorts of different rules when it comes to MMA.”
Joe Rogan thinks Ngannou will have success as a boxer
Francis Ngannou fought his last fight of the UFC contract at UFC 270. Now, the Predator is looking to explore the boxing world alongside the UFC. Though Ngannou has no experience in boxing, Rogan believes with his power, he would find success in any stand-up fight.
In the past, Rogan had said, “I want to see Francis [Ngannou] fight in boxing. I really do. I really do.” Though he dismissed him, fighting at a high level straight away. He said, “Well, not right away. I don’t think that would be smart. No, I think he should have a few boxing fights, but I think Francis could put people on the moon, that’s a fact.”

Rogan passionately explained, “He’s such a specimen, and he’s got a story that is literally right out of a movie. He was a child, working in the f**king sand mines, digging and that his core that his shoulders, that his legs, that his back, that kind of strength training as a young person doing that every day, that farmer strength sh*t that’s for real man, for real.”

Ngannou is currently suffering a knee injury for which he requires surgery. In fact, Ngannou will have surgery in the USA after his visit to Cameron. His manager revealed Ngannou will be out for approximately 9 months.
