The hardest debate in the MMA world is about who is the greatest fighter of all time. While many take the name of Jon Jones, some say it’s none other than Khabib Nurmagomedov. Finally, UFC commentator Joe Rogan has come up with an answer to put an end to the debate. According to Rogan, it would be better to find out who is the “greats” of the UFC than just find out a single G.O.A.T., ‘The Eagle,’ retired from MMA in 2021, when he was just 32 years old. He announced his retirement after a glorious submission victory against Justin Gaethje in just one minute and thirty-four seconds into round two. He left his gloves inside the octagon soon after the bout.
The Russian fighter’s retirement shook up the entire MMA world, as he had a record of 29 victories, zero losses, and three title defenses. On the other hand, Jones currently has a record of 27 victories and one loss. He has secured belts in both the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions. With so much technical knowledge about MMA, Rogan finally finds an answer to the question of who is the G.O.A.T.

Joe Rogan was talking on the 1977 episode of The Joe Rogan Experience with his guest, Dave Smith. During the conversation, they both started to talk about the “G.O.A.T.” of MMA. Rogan said, “Jones is so good. He is the G.O.A.T. If you are gonna have one G.O.A.T. I don’t think we are gonna argue Jones is not the G.O.A.T. I think the argument really is who are the greats because it’s so subjective.”
Talking on the same topic, he further went on to say why ‘The Eagle’ is better, “Nurmagomedov better than Jon Jones… because in total dominance Nurmagomedov is the G.O.A.T. Total dominance man just smashes everybody. Nobody had a chance. Do you understand how crazy it is to watch a guy storm through an entire division? Masters like Justin Gaethje, master of destruction. No one has a chance. Conor McGregor, master of destruction, no one has a chance… This mother**** cranked. He gets everybody. There is no argument that he is the G.O.A.T.“

Nurmagomedov is the longest-reigning UFC lightweight champion, having sat on the UFC lightweight throne from April 2018 to March 2021. He was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on June 30, 2022. While Jon Jones stayed away from the octagon for three long years, he came to a new division to become the heavyweight champion.
At the moment, Bones is looking forward to fighting Stipe Miocic. While Nurmagomedov decided to retire from the sport, Jones is still looking for more challenges. Even though Rogan gave an answer to the long-standing debates, fans might still have a G.O.A.T. of their choice.
