Did CNN unknowingly create the Trump phenomenon by spotlighting his wild, unfiltered rhetoric?

Joe Rogan and Donald Trump have always drawn attention wherever they go, and when these two outspoken figures finally sat down together on The Joe Rogan Experience, fans were eager to hear what would unfold. Rogan, who had previously expressed disinterest in helping Trump’s political career, didn’t hold back when asked about the former president’s rise to popularity.

In true Rogan fashion, the UFC commentator delivered an unfiltered response, revealing the surprising role CNN played in boosting Trump’s visibility. This candid exchange offered a unique glimpse into how Trump’s unscripted, unpolished rhetoric captivated voters and set him apart from other politicians. Rogan’s analysis also highlighted how Trump’s unscripted, bold persona—and his humorous jabs, like his impression of Joe Biden—cemented his place as a cultural phenomenon!

During the JRE Episode no. 2219, Joe Rogan pinpointed what makes Trump so “popular” with the public—and in his trademark fashion didn’t mince any words. The former POTUS began by reflecting on his endless stream of media attention by stating, “So I always got more publicity than other people and I didn’t… it wasn’t like I was trying, in fact, I don’t know exactly why, maybe you can tell me.”

Without missing a beat, Rogan bluntly answered, “Oh I can definitely tell you, you said a lot of wild sh–!” The UFC commentator’s quip hit the nail on the head, summing up how Trump’s unpredictability turned him into a media magnet. The JRE host further explained,You said a lot of wild s— and then CNN, in all their brilliance, by highlighting your wild sh— made you much more popular. And they boosted you in the polls coz people  were tired of someone talking in this bull—, pre-prepared, politician lingo and even if they didn’t agree with you, they at least knew whoever that guy is, that’s him, that’s really him.”

Rogan pointed out that Trump’s raw, unscripted style broke through the rehearsed political language that so many voters had grown tired of. Whether you loved or hated him, you knew one thing: what you saw was the real deal. This unpredictability became a defining characteristic of his presidency, and for many, it was refreshing.

In fact, Rogan, a seasoned comedian, couldn’t help but admire the humor in Trump’s antics. He pointed out, “One of the beautiful things about you is that you free b—. You get out and you do these huge events and you’re just talking… we’ve highlighted you on the show many times when you did the Biden impression where he’s walking around and he doesn’t know what he’s doing, it’s funny, it’s stand-up, it’s funny stuff.”

While most public figures stick to a carefully crafted image, Trump offered something different. He spoke his mind—wild as it may have been at times—and gave people a glimpse of who he really was. As Joe Rogan pointed out, it wasn’t just what Trump said, but how he said it that left a lasting impression. Something that the JRE host has also praised the former POTUS for before albeit with a twist!

Rogan praises Trump for his ‘comedic’ skills but points out why people might be hesitant to support him

In the world of American politics, few moments are as anticipated as the presidential debates. This time, it was Kamala Harris and Donald Trump squaring off for the first time in a televised face-off. With the stakes high, viewers expected fireworks, and they weren’t disappointed—though perhaps not for the reasons one might think. Many viewers saw the debate as a lopsided affair, with Harris emerging as the clear victor

On the JRE episode no. 2022 with Tom Segura, both agreed that Harris had been the more polished candidate, but Joe Rogan couldn’t ignore Trump’s unique ability to connect with crowds through humor. He pointed out, “The thing that he does, that he can do better than anybody alive, is just riff. He can go out there and have a crowd of people, and he’s funny, man. He does things like he did an Elon impression the other day—it was hilarious. He’s killing. He kills like a comedian. He’s funny; he’s funny like a comic.”

But Rogan was quick to point out the problem. As entertaining as Trump’s humor may be, it doesn’t necessarily translate to the leadership qualities people want in a president. “You know, it’s just that we don’t necessarily want that as the guy with his finger on the button. That’s all it is. That’s the thing that freaks people out.” Rogan noted.
