Joe Rogan gets a lot of hate from fans for some of the comedians he has made famous. Many feel that some comics like Bert Kreischer and Brendan Schaub have become as big as they have in the comedy scene almost entirely because of their proximity to Rogan and the name recognition that brings.
However, Theo Von is not one of those comedians. The ‘This Past Weekend’ podcast host is one of the most beloved comedians in the country and is almost unanimously thought to be hilarious. And Rogan, who loves comedy and funny people, of course loves him! As does rotund country music star and one of Von’s podcast’s most beloved guests, Jelly Roll. The musician recounted with great delight how good of an impression Von does of him, which Rogan had to see and found quite funny.
“Speaking of Nashville guys you seen Theo [Von] do his impression of you? Oh yeah, it’s my favorite thing ever… He’s a simulation, Joe,” Jelly Roll said on episode #2212 of the JRE podcast. “Yeah I think he might be,” Rogan agreed.

Jelly Roll got a little emotional discussing his relationship with Von and admitted that he was flattered at being impersonated by a comedian of Von’s caliber.
“I just couldn’t believe that I’d be in a place where Theo Von would, one, be my buddy. He came to my LA show, it just made me so happy I almost cried when I saw him I was so excited… [And] that to me is like those unreal moments when you watch a guy like Theo with his platform impersonating me to a T. And we’re friends too.” Jelly Roll added.

To which Rogan admitted that he was so impressed with Von that he was trying to get the Nashville resident to move to Austin, where the UFC commentator lives and has a comedy club. “We’re trying to steal him from Nashville,” Rogan said. And while Von is mainly a comedian, his podcast is doing phenomenally well, so much so that it is now in competition with Rogan’s JRE podcast.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Theo Von the new king of comedy, or does Joe Rogan still hold the crown?
Have an interesting take?
Did Theo Von’s podcast rank higher than Joe Rogan’s on the charts?
Theo Von’s podcast is blowing up. Especially after he had former President Donald Trump on ‘This Past Weekend’ two months ago. So much so that he gave Joe Rogan a run for his money on the Spotify charts. The UFC commentator managed to hold his top spot, but Von surged to second place for the first time in his podcast’s history.

Of course, Rogan’s podcast remains the most popular in the world and has a dedicated fanbase that rivals the fandom of some sports. But it is precisely because of his sheer dominance and viewership that Rogan doesn’t want to have the former POTUS on his podcast. After all, the UFC commentator has said that he doesn’t want to ‘help’ Trump in any way.
Despite a large section of Rogan’s audience begging him to do so, especially after the recent assassination attempt on Trump. But one of the good things about being as popular as Rogan is that he doesn’t have to think about having someone on mostly because they would do big numbers for their podcast. There’s still plenty of time to go before the Presidential elections in November, but the JRE host seems to be holding strong. What are your thoughts on Rogan and Jelly Roll’s love for Theo Von?
