Joe Rogan, a name that has become synonymous with podcasting, didn’t start out with the intention of becoming a podcaster. However, with his versatile personality and myriad interests, he transitioned into the world of podcasting while pursuing other ventures. Today, his show, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, reigns as the number-one podcast in the world, and rightfully so. Rogan‘s commendable efforts as a UFC commentator and the JRE host have played a significant role in this success.
While the 55-year-old deserves a lot of credit for his success, he is not the only one responsible for his rise to the top. In fact, in a recent revelation, Rogan shared a ‘fun fact’ about his podcasting history, one that reveals the surprising role played by his friend Eddie Bravo in making the JRE what it is today. Joe Rogan recently took to his Instagram story and shared a revelation made by ‘Dope As Usual‘ podcast host Marty O’Neill about the crucial role of grappling legend Eddie Bravo in the success of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’. O’Neill highlighted how Bravo’s persuasion to try marijuana played a significant role in shaping the podcast’s direction and that podcasting wouldn’t be the same without Bravo’s influence.
Marty O’Neill wrote, “Let’s all take a moment and remember that had Eddie Bravo never convinced Joe to give cannabis a chance, podcasting as we know it may not exist.”
Rogan agreed with the sentiment and referred to it as a “Fun fact from the podcast history books”.
Having said that, Rogan spoke about how Eddie Bravo changed his perspective on marijuana. Before the legendary grappler persuaded him to give it a shot, he had dismissed it as a stupid idea.
Eddie Bravo changed the way Joe Rogan viewed marijuana
Joe Rogan once admitted that he only tried marijuana a few times until he turned 30. And it was only after Eddie Bravo introduced him to marijuana that his viewpoint on that changed completely.
Rogan said, “We were doing Jiu-Jitsu together. And he was telling me how marijuana was helping his Jiu-Jitsu and helping his music and his creativity. And I was like, ‘What the f**k is this guy talking about?'”
