Joe Rogan, despite not being known for it, given his success with his podcast and fight commentary, is a spectacular and enigmatic stand-up comedian. He has successfully put out 7 standup specials. However, there was a time when he had a rough time finding his groove in the standup scene.
Joe Rogan got the chance to play the role of “Joe Garrelli” in the 1995 sitcom “News Radio”. However, despite his success on the show, Rogan found out that he had hit his all-time low in the standup scene while on his time at “News Radio”.

We can confidently say that Rogan has had quite a reputed career as a comedian. However, there was a time when he had to step away from the scene after landing a job as an actor. This unfortunately was the time when the comedian realised that he was losing his edge in the scene.
He spoke to his guest Kevin James of the time he realized that and said, “So I had to just do stand up just to prove that I was still a comic. Because I remember one point time the producer of news radio said to me, he was like, “why are you still doing stand up? You’re an actor now.” Oh, no. I was like, “Oh no, I gotta get out of here.” I was like, I was literally thinking like this is a trap. And then I had one really bad set one night in front of one of the producers and one of the writers. I f***ing ate shit.”
He claimed to have walked to a comedy club at 1 A.M. that night and bombed pretty horribly. Rogan claimed that the horrible set was when he understood that he had to go back to his roots. Given his dedication to the craft, it was not surprising to see him find success in stand-up comedy once again. He would later reveal how he would come up with his materials for his shows.

Rogan reveals how he makes the materials for his standup
Stand-up comedy is one tough business to make a big splash in. Joe Rogan has however managed to leave his mark while juggling his other gigs. This begs us to question how Rogan comes up with such great materials for his shows. Around the 42-minute mark of episode #2116 of the JRE, he explained how he writes his materials.
Rogan explained that he would sit in front of a computer just writing his thoughts down. He said, “I just like spill my thoughts out because I feel like it takes me a lot longer to write the words than it materials does for me to think about things… And I just whatever the subject is, I’ll, like there’s just one subject that I’m doing right now I’ve written, written about the subject four times. So I start a whole new Microsoft Word file four times, and just completely revisited”.
