Renowned commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan is a man with multiple endeavors. Besides commentating in UFC and hosting the world’s biggest podcast, he also has indulged in performing stand-up comedy. However, everything wasn’t always mellow for Joe Rogan. The 55-year-old has come clean about his early struggles while doing stand-up comedy. Rogan is not known to be the best comedian in the world, but has had his fair share of success. He has several comedy specials to his name, including shows with Netflix. Rogan states that he loves watching comedy and considers it to be the best type of art form. He said, “It’s a fun art form, man. It’s still my favorite thing to watch after all these years.”
However, the 55-year-old podcaster had feelings of doubt during the initial days of his stand-up comedy career. He was joined by fellow comedian Louis C.K. on the #1929 episode of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience‘ where Rogan talked about dealing with jealousy as a comedian.
Joe Rogan didn’t enjoy doing comedy

Joe Rogan mentioned that for a while, he didn’t like doing comedy. He felt as if he wasn’t doing well enough as a comedian and became jealous of other performers who did well. Rogan said, “In the beginning, I didn’t (like doing comedy) because of jealousy, and insecurity.” He added, “If someone else was killing it, then I was like ‘God! I wish I’d thought of that. God! I wish I was killing it.” Rogan mentioned that at that time in his career, he was gunning to become a better performer. “I was too wrapped up in trying to get somewhere in comedy that I didn’t enjoy it anymore,” said the 55-year-old.

However, the New Jersey native took his time to reflect on his feelings and realized why he started doing comedy in the first place. He said, “I realized ‘hey stupid, you got into comedy because you love watching it. Why would you still not love watching it? Are you gonna give up loving watching it because you like to do it? That’s so stupid,” Joe Rogan realized he was taking too much stress with regards to being a performer.

Rogan continues to perform stand-up comedy to this day, along with his work as a commentator for the biggest MMA promotion in the world and the host of the world’s biggest audio platform.
