Almost seven months after the news first broke, Elon Musk finally acquired Twitter. The tech mogul completed his purchase recently, and immediately fired the CEO, the CFO, and the legal head. UFC commentator and podcast host, Joe Rogan, was among those that celebrated the ownership change of Twitter.
Musk and Rogan have both long been critical of Twitter’s censorship practices. These issues were at an all-time high during the pandemic when Twitter suspended accounts for spreading misinformation. Many, including Joe Rogan, expect Musk’s takeover to bring change to this situation.

Joe Rogan shared Elon Musk’s message on Twitter
Recently, Twitter has been receiving a lot of criticism that they were liberal/left-leaning. People had to tread lightly when dealing with sensitive issues on the platform. One politically incorrect opinion could invite the wrath of cancel culture.
Joe Rogan, and other comedians like Ricky Gervais, voiced their dissatisfaction with such aggressive censorship on and off Twitter.

However, Elon Musk sent out a tweet that would be welcome to comedians like Rogan and Gervais. “Comedy is now legal on Twitter,” wrote Musk. Rogan later retweeted this message. The Spotify podcaster was openly critical of Twitter’s censorship policies. He condemned their shadow-banning practices and said the platform banned accounts that said something they didn’t agree with.
Musk announced on Friday his plan to form a content moderation council with diverse views. He added that no major decisions regarding content or reinstating suspended accounts will happen before the council is formed.

Rogan was elated to find out that Elon Musk had bought Twitter. He got the confirmation of the news during an episode of JRE back in April. “Elon Musk just bought Twitter. We got a movie star cut type of a superhero. It’s like a movie,” he said.
“First of all, he believes that free speech is important. And not just important; vital for democracy, for a functioning democracy,” said Rogan. Speaking of Twitter’s practices, he said, “We found out some things about Twitter and one of the things they do is shadow ban people. … It has less engagement.”
