Alex Pereira is one of the best strikers on the current UFC roster. He once competed against former UFC heavyweight champion and Hall of Famer Bas Rutten to see who could kick harder. Pereira was able to edge past him. Nonetheless, he did not manage to surpass the record set by Joe Rogan on the PowerKube.

‘Poatan’ and ‘El Guapo’ were in attendance during Karate Combat 37. The representatives of that promotion later invited the former middleweight champion and the Hall of Famer to test the power of their kicks on the PowerKube device. They made several attempts to adjust the sensor of the device. But after getting accustomed to it, Bas Rutten and Alex Pereira delivered some of the most powerful kicks ever seen.

Bas Rutten kicked the machine to get a score of 88,388. However, when Alex Pereira kicked the device, he registered a whopping 90,987 score. Both martial arts icons showed their prowess in kicking. But ‘Poatan’ could not edge past Joe Rogan’s record of 152,000. Moreover, there were other fighters who tried to break the UFC color commentator’s kicking record. Let’s take a look at a few of them.
Other fighters who tried to beat Rogan’s record
The PowerKube device has created some of the most enjoyable moments for MMA fighters. After Joe Rogan set his astonishing record, many fighters followed suit. UFC lightweight fighter Terrance McKinney once shared a video of him kicking the device. He tried kicking the PowerKube with both of his legs. McKinney scored 50,286 with his right leg and 53,412 with his left leg. However, there was one fighter who could break Rogan’s record.

Bellator also has a lot of talented MMA fighters besides the UFC. As such, one of their welterweight stars, Lorenz Larkin, broke Joe Rogan’s record twice. During a training session with Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, the Bellator fighter showed his kicking prowess by first registering a score of 189,983. He already surpassed Rogan’s record. But then his next kick registered a score of 235,875. Nobody has come close to that score ever, and Larkin did that fairly easily.

While it is nice to see fighters fight inside the Octagon, it is also a great sight to see them in a friendly competition. Many people would have expected Alex Pereira to beat Joe Rogan’s record. However, people often forget that the 56-year-old has an extensive background in Tae Kwon Do, and as such, it should not come as a surprise that his kicking game is deadlier than most martial artists.
