Is it wrong to call UFC light heavyweight king Alex Pereira the “backbone” of Dana White’s billion-dollar organization? This year, ‘Poatan’ has emerged as one of the brightest MMA stars with his back-to-back appearances, saving sinking UFC events left, right, and center. Whether it was stepping in when the Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler UFC 303 headline fight fell through or filling the gap in UFC 307’s plans, the Brazilian juggernaut, like a ‘messiah’, has never hesitated to take a fight on short notice.
Since his debut in 2021, Pereira has become the second-most active fighter in the promotion with 10 bouts to his name. Recently, ‘Poatan’ has earned love from analysts and fans for his aura, with even UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan giving an ultimate verdict on Alex Pereira in his latest podcast with friend and comedian Theo Von.

In his latest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience (#2226), Joe Rogan, with his guest Theo Von, touched on various topics, eventually leading the conversation into the MMA realm. When discussing Alex Pereira, their conversation quickly shifted to the fighter’s striking technique. Rogan explained to Von that besides the Brazilian native’s strikes being as powerful as they come, they are highly technical as well.
The podcaster pointed out how an opponent might initially brush off a few hits, thinking, “‘Oh no!’ But then you get hit with a couple more—three, four, five of those—and all of a sudden, you’re like, ‘I can’t walk anymore.’ And now he’s hunting you.” Joe Rogan further didn’t hesitate to place Alex Pereira in the league of “potential GOAT nominees,” though not above UFC heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones, adding, “I would already put him in the conversation. I don’t think he’s better than Jon Jones, the greatest of all time.”
Alex Pereira is on a well-deserved rest after defending his title for the third time against Khalil Rountree Jr. in a brutal four-round battle at UFC 307. However, beyond his fighting career, Joe Rogan proposed an alternative path for Pereira that could benefit him after retirement.

Now, the fight world is once again making its mark in Hollywood, with Alex Pereira taking on an antagonist role alongside Adria Arjona, who recently gained attention for her movie opposite Glen Powell.

Joe Rogan, who is eager to see Pereira’s acting career unfold, believes the fighter could establish himself at the same level as WWE star and Hollywood’s highest-paid actor from 2016 to 2021, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. In his podcast, Rogan expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “They’re gonna cast ‘Poatan’ in some movie too, I heard. He’s a bad guy in some movie. I’m hyped for these guys. Imagine if one of these guys becomes the next ‘Rock.’ Like, you’re telling me Conor McGregor couldn’t become an action movie star?”
