Back in 2023, Dana White ventured into the world of slapping and opened up the PowerSlap. The new venture received quite a bit of hatred from the fighting community. However, the financial success of White’s venture was nothing short of phenomenal. As the slapping promotion gets ready for its international debut, the amount of backlash that it receives isn’t low.
Even White’s friend and colleague, Joe Rogan, dissed the promotion on multiple occasions. Now, the UFC color commentator made a complete mockery of PowerSlap when he sat down for an episode of JRE Fight Companion.

On the 17th of August, Rogan sat together with Brendan Schaub, Tony Hinchcliffe, and Brian Simpson, to watch UFC 305 on an episode of the JRE Fight Companion. As the conversation proceeded, Rogan and his guests stumbled upon PowerSlap, weighing in on which, the JRE host said, “That seems like I wouldn’t advise any of this.”
Hinchcliffe made a note that the slapping contest seemed like it was nothing but a sketch. With doubts revolving around how the organization finds the athletes, Schaub jokingly commented that the contestants lived in a house where they all slapped each other. Rogan didn’t want to back out on the mockery. He said, “You guys are saying this like it’s trivial. This is a real sport. You should shut the f*** up. This is sanctioned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which is ridiculous. They should- I want my slappers of m*th.”
The entire room kept bursting into pangs of laughter. Soon, Simpson observed that the weight class for PowerSlap seemed unprofessional. But the UFC color commentator wasn’t done. In response to his guest’s observation, Rogan said, “Why don’t you shut the f*** up! These people are athletes. I just can’t take here while you disrespect, which is part of the parent company that I am employed by.”

Later on, the 4 men pull up a video of a jacked guy getting slapped by someone who looked like a heavyweight. Right after the slap, the jacked man went down. But soon, Rogan realized that it was none other than the 230-pound powerlifting prodigy, Larry Wheels. Rogan voiced, “He just got brain damage for zero reason in the gym. Oh, that’s Larry Wheels! Bro that’s crazy! I wish I was friends with that dude. I’d say, ‘Don’t do that. Don’t ever do that. That’s a free brain damage.’”

Not too long ago, the UFC color commentator revealed that he was fine with White’s slapping venture. But will he ever participate in the competition? Let’s find out!
JRE host stands in support of PowerSlap
Earlier in episode #159 of the JRE MMA Show, Quinton Jackson asked the JRE host if he would ever participate in a slapping contest. Rogan didn’t waste a single moment to refuse the offer. However, when it came to others fighting with slaps, the UFC commentator seemed fine. He said, “I’m fully in support of anybody doing whatever the f* * k they want to do. I’m like if you could bull ride, if you could BMX jump and skateboard and all that crazy sh** where people break their necks. I feel like you should be able to do anything but I wouldn’t do it.”

Needless to say, this wasn’t the first time Rogan stood in support of PowerSlap, even though he didn’t completely approve of it. He once declared that he was one of many who watched the ‘professional slappers’ compete against each other. After all, it’s an extension of his parent company.
