Crowned as Spotify’s most popular podcast globally for the third year straight, The Joe Rogan Experience offers its loyal listeners hot takes, opinions about recent developments, and amusing anecdotes. Over a lengthy conversation, the podcast host, Joe Rogan, touches on issues from diverse themes. Notably, as a comedian himself, Rogan has also expressed his concern for growing intolerance towards comedy several times. Similarly, in one of the recent JRE episodes, the famed podcaster disclosed why people were angry over the comedians.

In JRE ep. #1907, the stand-up comic sat down with fellow comedians, Shane Gillis, Mark Normand, and Ari Shaffir. Markedly, the pack discussed the Kanye West situation, Jake Paul‘s boxing potential, terrible injuries in MMA, and the recent Balenciaga controversy. Moreover, the comedians also instinctively considered the recent dynamic of their prominent profession, i.e. comedy.

What did Joe Rogan say about people being angry?

The conversation started with a parallel between the 2000s comedy scene and the current one. The group shared the infamous 2000 incident of comedians Lewis Black and Jim Norton as an example. In fact, the authorities put both comedians behind the bars for their involvement in “The Naked Teen Voyeur Bus” incident.

For that reason, Mark Normand claimed that the comedy was ‘fun once’. But the 55-year-old remarked that comedy still was fun. Following this, the guests commented on how the people were reporting the ‘offensive’ jokes and how comedy had become ‘dangerous’.

Later on, the famous TV presenter revealed the possible reason behind the people’s ‘recreational outrage’. Thus, he added, “But some people think they have a right to be angry, so they use it to be angry. You know, there’s recreational outrage…”

Further, Rogan stated, “The thing is, it’s like, we’re realizing that everybody’s connected now and it’s starting to like grow. And it’s understanding of what’s possible and it got a little away from us.”

Subsequently, the former Fear Factor host mentioned that due to the angry reactions, a lot of comedians remained affected. Afterward, the scarred comedians would rely on the ‘mind virus’.
