Is Joe Rogan the voice of reason or just another media provocateur swaying public opinion?

UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan has become a dominant figure in mainstream media, largely due to his broad influence and outspoken presence in the public sphere. His involvement in political discourse, particularly during the campaign of the 47th U.S. President, has further cemented his status as a cultural force.

Rogan’s growing influence, particularly among younger generations, has drawn envy from traditional media outlets. This was evident earlier this week when a host from ABC’s The View mocked him, accusing him of swaying young voters towards Donald Trump and the Republican Party. The host referred to Rogan as a “dragon believer” to downplay Trump’s appeal. Rogan responded by updating his Twitter bio to “dragon believer,” a move widely appreciated by his fans. Even Elon Musk chimed in, offering his perspective on the controversy.

Recently, in response to Joy Behar’s remarks about him, Joe Rogan took a sharp jab at Behar on his podcast while addressing his viewers. Rogan asked his audience, “You can’t explain it, can you?” During the episode, Rogan commented, “This chick from The View — Joy Behar — is mocking me for believing in dragons. But if dragons aren’t real, then how did I traverse hyperspace while smoking a joint with the machine elves last night? It could only have been possible with an interdimensional dragon.”

The Babylon Bee recently shared this statement on X through an article. With The Babylon Bee‘s satirical journalistic approach and Joe Rogan’s fitting response, Elon Musk couldn’t help but show his appreciation for Rogan. Sharing his strong bond with Rogan, Musk retweeted the article, writing, “I love @JoeRogan & @TheBabylonBee.”

This year, instead of relying on traditional media interviews, Donald Trump, advised by his youngest son Barron, chose to reach out to internet podcasters for their vital connection with younger audiences. Joe Rogan’s

Experience, Theo Von’s podcast, and Impaulsive with Logan Paul remain among the most-watched shows by fans, and Donald Trump made appearances on these platforms to tap into that influential reach, which seems to have worked out for him.

What made Joe Rogan switch his support to Donald Trump?

Joe Rogan was not always supportive of Donald Trump and his politics. He even once claimed that he would decline Trump’s appearance on his 10+ million monthly-listening podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE), saying two years ago, “I don’t want to help him. I’m not interested in helping.” So, what happened that led Rogan to invite Donald Trump onto his podcast?

The shift can be traced back to the old saying, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend,” which took root in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. CNN, a network with a liberal, Democratic-leaning mindset publicly criticized Rogan, after he claimed to have treated himself with an animal medication. They accused him of spreading misinformation, which pushed Rogan to align more with Republican views and Donald Trump’s ideology.

In a recent episode of his podcast, episode #2226, Rogan revealed the reason behind his change in perspective. He said, “Back then, I was like, ‘I don’t want to be a part of this.’ Too many people were angry, too many people pissed off. I was like, ‘I don’t need to,’ and I didn’t pay attention to it enough. I didn’t pay attention to the way they were misrepresenting things he had said enough. Yeah, I didn’t really… My wake-up call was when they went after me.”

What’s your take on ABC’s Joy Behar’s remarks about Joe Rogan? Is it fair to criticize the public for their choices in entertainment and who they listen to? Or is this more about personal animosity toward Rogan because of the political divide, especially after the Democrats’ loss to Republican Donald Trump? Share your thoughts below.
