Jon Jones is possibly the greatest to ever strap on the fingerless gloves. After all, the UFC heavyweight champion is essentially undefeated, has the most title defenses in UFC history, and is a generational talent with unprecedented creativity and dynamism. And Joe Rogan thinks one particular factor gives ‘Bones’ a clear and often insurmountable advantage over his opponents.
Speaking to comedian and podcaster Theo Von on episode #2226 of the JRE podcast, the UFC commentator revealed that Jones’s long and lean frame is the thing that sets him apart from his competition. “A guy built like Jon Jones has the perfect fighter frame, ‘cuz he’s still very strong, he has a lot of muscle, but he’s also long and lean. So he’s not relatively bulky compared to his weight ‘cuz he’s long and stretched out yeah so he can hit you from here and you can only hit him from here. This amount of distance is so huge… you have to cross that and you’re so vulnerable while crossing that,” he said.
This, according to Rogan, lets the GOAT contender pick apart his opponent from a distance while staying out of range and avoiding the danger of getting hit. On the other hand, if an opponent does get close and try to take him down, Jones employs his elite-level grappling skills that help him dominate on the ground. “And if a guy’s a good counter striker and he’s active and he’s long, they’re so so hard to get in on. So a guy like Jon that’s always going to be an advantage and then with Jon if you do get in, that’s no picnic because he’s an elite grappler,” he added.

Not to mention, the American is a dynamic striker, who has elbows and knees for days to deal with any fighter who dares to engage with him up close. But Jones is set to face a unique challenge in his next (and probably last fight), the likes of which he hasn’t faced before.
Stipe Miocic presents a unique challenge to Jon Jones
Jon Jones is up against Stipe Miocic who himself is no slouch on the feet either. Combined with his extremely high fight IQ and more than a passable ground game, many have cautioned to not take the heavyweight GOAT lightly one bit. But against Jones, things are different. The former champ is 42 and seemingly at the end of his career.
Not to mention Miocic last fought three years back where he suffered a devastating knockout at the hands of Francis Ngannou. However, the Ohio native does have a few advantages against Jones going into their UFC 309 clash next weekend. After all, Miocic is naturally bigger than Jones, who spent three years bulking to move from 205lbs to the UFC’s heaviest division.
What’s your perspective on:
Does Jon Jones's frame give him an unfair advantage, or is it just part of his genius?

In addition, Jones is coming off an injury from which he hasn’t completely recovered. Speaking to the ‘New York Post’, the champ revealed that he is also ‘not as strong’ as he was before the injury, giving the former champ another silver lining going into their Madison Square Garden clash. While Jones is still the overwhelming, six-to-one favorite to win the fight, Miocic can by no means be written off. What do you think about Joe Rogan’s take on Jon Jones’ frame?
