Is Deontay Wilder's career on a downward spiral, or can he bounce back stronger than ever?

He is feared in the boxing world because of his incredible striking abilities. However, he has not been burning up the boxing ring lately. Wilder has knocked out many fighters in the past but he too has been KO-ed in his career. On top of that when he fought Zhilei Zhang, the defeat was like the last nail in the coffin for his career.

The KO loss against Zhang drew a lot of attention on the fighter and many veterans have spoken about it. This fight had taken place before UFC 302 and it marked to be one of the most devastating defeats in Wilder’s career.  Wilder has often made his opponent unconscious but his loss to 41-year-old ‘Bang Bang’ was a huge reality check.

Yes, he just knocked out Deontay and he is 40! Dude’s 40. Yeah, with Deontay man it’s like well I just feel like with Deontay there are only so many times you can get ko-ed.”

His knockout power had given him an undefeated record and a world championship status. However, all of it came to a stop when he first faced Tyson Fury in a rematch. The ‘Gypsy King’ defeated him and achieved victory via TKO in round 7.

Fury again knocked out Wilder during a third match luckily the ‘Bronze Bomber’ bounced back by defeating Robert Helenius. However, then he lost to Joseph Parker and finally to Zhang. This was seemingly the nail in the coffin for his career.
