The 90s was a great time for movies. One of the best movies from that decade was ‘Forrest Gump’, featuring two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks. However, Joe Rogan and his recent guest on the JRE podcast believe that the movie is not as good as people claim it to be. He explained the reason behind that sentiment on his multi-million-dollar podcast.

‘Forrest Gump’ was one of the best movies of the 1990s. The movie won six Academy Awards, helping Tom Hanks earn his second one in 1995. However, Joe Rogan and his recent guest, Taylor Sheridan, don’t feel the same way as other people about that movie. Let’s see what they had to say.

Taylor Sheridan has acted in a lot of movies and TV shows and has also created some of them as well. He recently made an appearance on the #2083 episode of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ where he mentioned how much he disliked the movie ‘Forrest Gump’. Sheridan said, “This tottering f***ing idiot is the only guy to save the world? Everybody else around him, he’s just gonna go on a f***ing run across America and everyone gonna follow him and that’s gonna heal the country. I was just like, ‘What is this sh*t?'”

Joe Rogan went on to mention that the idea of that movie could have been something refreshing for the audience. As such, the movie went big in 1994. “I think back then it [a movie like ‘Forrest Gump’] was novel. The idea was like, it could be so much simpler that a simple guy could figure it out and that we’re all so disconnected,” Rogan stated.

However. Joe Rogan and his guest understood that the movie may not be appropriate in modern times. Rogan said, “No way [making a movie like that today].” Taylor Sheridan went on to mention the reason behind it was because of the sensitive nature of portraying the titular character. “Someone would be too offended by the portrayal of the ‘Forrest’ character,” Taylor Sheridan added. Meanwhile, Rogan named yet another movie that could not be made in modern times.

Rogan’s views on ‘Tropic Thunder’

Joe Rogan mentioned that the movie ‘Tropic Thunder’, featuring Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black, and Ben Stiller, is one movie that he thinks cannot be remade today, and he seems to love that movie. The 56-year-old further stated, “My favorite movie that you can’t make today is ‘Tropic Thunder.’ It’s a f***ing great movie.”

Moreover, Joe Rogan is glad that the movie has not been banned yet by the censor board. He believes that some of the characters in ‘Tropic Thunder’ are way above what Tom Hanks’s role in ‘Forrest Gump’. “I’m so glad they haven’t banned it… and Tom Hanks, if you go and watch his portrayal of ‘Forrest Gump’, it’s nothing compared to where they do the simple ‘Jack’ character in ‘Tropic Thunder,'” the JRE host added.

Despite Joe Rogan and Taylor Sheridan disliking ‘Forrest Gump’, there are many people who love the movie. It is safe to assume that the type of movies people like varies from individual to individual. Nevertheless, the different movies that people like all have their place in the history of cinema.
