UFC 310 was initially set to feature Belal Muhammad defending his welterweight title for the first time against the unbeaten Shavkat Rakhmonov. However, plans changed when Muhammad suffered a bone injury, forcing him to pull out of the fight. This unexpected turn of events paved the way for Ian Garry to step in as Rakhmonov’s opponent. Although unable to compete, Muhammad was still enthusiastic about watching the showdown live at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
After the victory, Rakhmonov invited Belal Muhammad into the cage for a brief moment. But things took an unexpected turn when security failed to recognize Muhammad and stopped him from entering. Conor McGregor was the first one to react to the situation. Now former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman joins the party.

Conor McGregor has never held back his criticism of Belal Muhammad, often calling out his fighting style. This time McGregor took the chance to voice his opinion on the way Muhammad was treated by sending a voice message. He said, “The security doesn’t even know he’s the champ. I’m not surprised, man. He’s an a—hole. Shut your mouth, you actually got into the ring, and they don’t even know you’re the champion.” Kamaru Usman who was initially contacted to feature at the UFC 310 also took notice of the entire scenario. Usman had his share of rivalry with the champion in the past.
However, while speaking to Henry Cejudo on the ‘Pound 4 Pound’ podcast, Usman seemed to have enjoyed the entire situation. He did admit to the fact that McGregor is one of the best in getting under the skin of fighters. While speaking to Henry Cejudo, Usman said, “Hey listen listen, me and Conor have had our situations. Me and Belal have had our situations, and I know Conor is going through a lot right now. But we still can’t forget that this guy has some of the best wittiest comebacks and one-liners in UFC history.”
The entire situation was neutralized by Joe Rogan when he urged the security to let Muhammad come inside the Octagon. While Umsan did find it funny that the UFC security didn’t recognize the champion. He did point out that it was Joe Rogan who came in support of the new champion. He said, “Joe Rogan had to vouch for you to come through security. Did you hear what Rogan said, ‘he is the champion let him in’. And I know Joe didn’t even mean it in a negative way”

Belal Muhammad didn’t let the security team’s failure to acknowledge his title bother him. Instead, he faced an even bigger obstacle: a loud chorus of boos from the crowd as he stood face-to-face with the Kazakh sensation. However, in his recent interview, ‘Remember the Name’ shared exactly what he felt about the entire situation.

Muhammad thought the security’s reaction was a result of the earlier incident with Merab Dvalishvili, which likely made them extra cautious. Since Dvalishvili almost jumped over a barrier to confront a fan just hours before, security was probably on high alert, expecting another potential confrontation. But the champion did not feel any kind of insult with the whole scenario. Moreover, he felt that it was the responsibility of the security to make sure everything was in order.

While speaking to ‘The Schmo’ he shared his honest opinion on the whole. He said, “Yeah, I don’t know they thought I was; they thought I was pulling a Merab like hopping over and going crazy or something like that. I’m like, ‘No, he called me, bro’. If somebody calls me in the cage I’m gonna go in there, right?” The champion is yet to give any sort of reaction to the Dubliner’s comments this time around. He is more focused on his first title defense with Shavkat Rakhmonov and is working hard on his recovery. However, the pair has no love lost between them it will be interesting to see what happens next.
