Did Ryan Garcia cheat or not? The boxer is in troubled waters following the reports of him testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance called Ostarine. So, should his win over Devin Haney be overturned? Amidst all this chaos, famous YouTuber and former JRE podcast guest Derek has chimed in with a hot take.

Derek seems to have sided with Ryan Garcia in these difficult times as he reckoned that even if the drug was negligible in his system, there would be traces, and this result would not pose well for his career. He added while speaking on More Plates More Dates, Like people are still going to hold it against them just like Conor did… So again, just speaks to the importance of being extremely diligent with what goes in your body if you’re a tested athlete. You never know what’s gonna pop up…” The YouTuber believes that the person might be accused “even if it was trace…” and even if they took it unintentionally.

The Canadian-born further mentioned that even minuscule quantities of highly traceable products are going to pop up in a test. He claimed, It will show up even if it’s at an amount you had no idea yourself you were even on anything in micro quantities that have no performance enhancing advantage whatsoever.

As per the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association letter, Garcia tested positive for the Selective Androgen Receptor Modulator the day before and on the day of the fight against Devin Haney. The result has clouded the 25-year-old’s spectacular victory with many calling for a re-match or a change in the results of the April 20 fight.

Big names like Conor McGregor have also called for a lifetime ban for Garcia over the alleged accusation. In a now-deleted tweet, he wrote. “Cheated the weight and was juiced, lifetime ban. Sad to see, sad to say. Sad and a bit sick. Don’t come near me if I see you ever Ryan Garcia. I am actually disgusted. This ostarine it reminds me of Sean O’Malley — was on that as well. I don’t like this, I’ll bust yous both up. Do yous want to spar? I will set flights right now for you both todo a full-on spar each.”

Amidst all the criticism, the American boxer was also garnering some support and one such person was Derek Munro. Munro, who has been on Joe Rogan’s JRE podcast several times (#2073, #1985, #1744) had talked about the UFC’s partnership with Drug-Free Sports International. Meanwhile, Garcia has not been silent about the report and all the accusations being hurled at him.

What does the future look like for Ryan Garcia?

Dan Rafael was the reporter who revealed the news that ‘The Flash’ had tested positive for PEDs. This was through two tests via the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) before and after the fight with Haney. Garcia has 10 days to prove himself and test his B samples. The failure to execute that will not only lead to a fine but also his victory will be taken away.

Meanwhile, Garcia denied taking any PEDs and said, “What’s up, everybody? I came on here to address this bull f**king sh*t claim that I cheated. The interim lightweight champ had his two friends standing behind him and also declared that his fans knew he was not a cheater. He also said that he never used steroids and was not aware of how to source these substances. He showed the ‘Ashwagandha’ supplements and said, “My bad, I shouldn’t have taken this.

So the boxing star is essentially blaming tainted supplements for his positive test. As per the rules, he still has time to request that his B-samples be tested. Meanwhile, the debate keeps raging on. His former rival, Gervonta Davis, had an interesting theory and blamed Haney’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, for setting Garcia up.

In another interesting development, an old tweet from UFC’s Jeff Novitzky also seemed to support Garcia’s claims. According to the UFC exec, Ostarine was a common contaminant in tainted supplements and the reason behind many UFC stars testing positive for the same. This list included Sean O’Malley, who tested twice and received two separate six-month suspensions.

According to ‘Suga’ the science is not yet accurate enough to differentiate intentional juicing and accidental ingestion of tainted supplements. Which of these applies to Garcia? The big news is left to see after Garcia takes the test again. What are your thoughts about the whole fiasco? Let us know in the comments below.
