Joe Rogan is a true combat sport enthusiast and his opinion carries weightage that cannot be ignored. With a stacked martial arts background and firsthand experience in the ring, his insights on the sport are highly valued. Throughout his association with the UFC, Rogan has been vocal in his praise for Jon Jones, considering him one of the greatest fighters of all time.
Recently, in March at UFC 285, Jones made a stunning comeback after 3 long years and took out Ciryl Gane in the opening round itself, earning the title of UFC heavyweight champion. His performance left fans and fighters in awe, cementing his status as the GOAT in the MMA domain. However, Rogan recently discussed a potential fight that could establish if Jones’ GOAT status extends beyond this realm. He discussed a match-up between Jon Jones and the current WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, and has a clear winner in mind if the two ever fought each other.

During the episode #1960 of the JRE, Joe Rogan sat down with renowned comedian Andrew Schulz, where they discussed a range of topics, including the greatness of Jon Jones. A clip from the podcast made it to YouTube, where the two can be seen talking about how Jones is almost unbeatable, with Rogan even claiming that he doesn’t see boxing legend Tyson Fury capable of taking on ‘Jonny Bones’.
The 55-year-old UFC commentator confidently stated, “No one thinks that Tyson Fury can beat Jon Jones in a fight… No one thinks that.”
He continued, “Tyson [himself] doesn’t think that. You want to talk about who’s the baddest man on the planet? If Jon Jones and Tyson Fury are locked into a room, I’m pushing all of my chips on black.”
Although Rogan regarded ‘The Gypsy King’ as a great boxer, he doesn’t see him winning against Jones. “Tyson Fury is an amazing boxer. [But] He doesn’t have a f**king chance in hell of making it out of that room… Zero chance.”
Jon Jones coming back after a long hiatus and easily defeating the natural heavyweight Ciryl Gane shocked the world. But interestingly, that is something Joe Rogan already saw coming years ago.
