Chris Weidman did not get the result he wanted on his comeback at UFC 292. He lost his fight to Brad Tavares via a unanimous decision win. Moreover, there was an instance when commentator Joe Rogan thought that ‘The All-American’ might get his inside leg snapped with relentless leg kicks from his opponent. But Conor McGregor was quick to correct him.

Weidman made a valiant return after suffering a potentially career-ending broken leg. Despite his best efforts, he could not defend himself against Tavares’ overpowering series of leg kicks. It began the second the fight started and continued until the end. This prompted Joe Rogan to make claims about Weidman’s inside leg, but Conor McGregor shut him down.

‘The Notorious’ may not have fought for over two years now, but he’s actively watching all the UFC’s events. He was tuned to watch Chris Weidman make his return after two years out due to a horrific leg injury. The injury was something that Conor McGregor could resonate with. Meanwhile, when one of Brad Tavares’ kicks hit Weidman in the inside leg, ‘The All-American’ started to reel.

This made Joe Rogan believe that Weidman might get his inside leg snapped. However, Conor McGregor corrected him in a post on X (formerly Twitter). The former double champion told Joe Rogan that the inside can never get snapped. It is always the outside leg that gets snapped. He said, “Joe, the bar inside the leg CANNOT snap.” Let us take a look at what happened during the fight.

Loss for ‘The All-American’ on his return

Just when hope seemed to be lost for the ex-champion, he landed a powerful 1-2 combination along the fence that rocked Tavares. Although Weidman’s legs were weak, he kept landing shots as he pushed forward. Before he could gain any more momentum, Tavares countered by kicking his legs again. Weidman took a chance on a takedown along the fence, but Tavares’ defense proved to be superb; he fended off that attempt effectively and started targeting the body with strikes.

Tavares had a chance to finish the fight but fought valiantly nonetheless. Once Weidman’s leg was weakened, Tavares opted to stick and move instead of pressing for the end. His superior boxing speed enabled him to wear down his opponent before the low kicks made an impact. In the end, Tavares scored his first win after two consecutive losses.
