Elon Musk recently came under fire when he gave his speech at Donald Trump‘s Presidential inauguration ceremony. While on the podium, the billionaire waved his hand to the crowd in attendance, leading some people to question the gesture Musk let out was similar to the infamous Nazi salute enacted by ruthless dictator Adolf Hitler and his band of followers. However, Joe Rogan has come out in defense of the 53-year-old tech mogul, with a strange fact about the particular hand gesture.

According to historical accounts, Musk’s waving of the hand, which bore similarity to the ‘Nazi salute’, was actually a gesture that Americans used when they took the Pledge of Allegiance. “Well, he’s saying, ‘My heart goes out to you’ [re-enacts Elon Musk’s gesture]. But that’s how the Nazis did it… This is what I found out last night. That’s also how they used to do the Pledge of Allegiance,” Joe Rogan revealed on the #2261 episode of JRE.

It was during the Second World War when the United States decided to make some changes in their tradition in the wake of the Nazi terror. “The Pledge of Allegiance used to be done like this until the Nazis came along. Then we switched it to this – your hand over your heart. So we cut out that part,” Rogan added.

The 53-year-old shared a hilarious take on the noise surrounding his gesture at the Presidential inauguration Ceremony. While firing back at those claims, Elon Musk referenced some infamous Nazi figures, while hysterically shrugging off those accusations. “Don’t say Hess to Nazi accusations! Some people will Goebbels anything down! Stop Gőring your enemies. His pronouns would’ve been He/Himmler! Bet you did nazi that coming,” Musk tweeted.

Even his daughter, Viviane Wilson, came to Musk’s aid, slamming the people for blowing things out of proportion. “I don’t know why y’all are reacting with such vigour, I’m clearly only talking about card suits. After all, there’s no proof I’m not just talking about card suits. People assuming otherwise just goes to show how dishonest people/the media can be,” she wrote on social media.
