Belal Muhammad got what he wanted. He’ll defend his 170-pound gold for the first time at UFC 310. The year-ending PPV will see him butt heads with the undefeated 100 percent finisher, Shavkat Rakhmonov. Many fans predict a win for the Kazakh star, however, there are still people who have been backing Muhammad’s status as champion, and Joe Rogan is certainly one of them.
Following his dominant win over Leon Edwards at UFC 304, Joe Rogan got to meet Belal Muhammad for the second time on his multi-million-dollar podcast. Having seen his journey over the years, the 57-year-old made a claim about ‘Remember the Name’s weight cut, claiming that he’s one of the few 200-pounders, who easily cut down to 170lbs for all his fights, a consummate professional.
“Belal’s way over 170. I don’t know what he weighs, but I got to guess that he’s close to 200 pounds, [and] he cuts down to 170 perfectly,” Joe Rogan told guest Jelly Roll during a recent JRE episode. He’d then reveal how Belal Muhammad goes about his training schedule, about which the first Palestinian UFC champion is very serious, which he showcased when he even trained during Ramadan. His guest Jelly Roll would also claim that he had heard that the welterweight champion is “insanely disciplined.”

“He’s done camp in Ramadan. You know, you can’t eat or drink anything during the daylight hours of Ramadan. So, he would have to get up in the morning while it’s dark out, have a morning breakfast, go to training, and not eat anything, and no water,” Joe Rogan further stated. However, that isn’t the only reason why the JRE host has so much respect for Belal Muhammad. In fact, his devotion to his religion has won Rogan’s heart as well.
Not just as a fighter, but Joe Rogan also respects Belal Muhammad for being a “devout” Muslim
Not too long ago, Joe Rogan claimed that religion was of utmost importance in modern times. Hence, it isn’t a surprise to see how impressed he’s been with Belal Muhammad and the fact that he truly lives the way his religion preaches. He spends countless times praying and refrains from using coarse language, which has made the 57-year-old one of the welterweight champion’s biggest admirers. “He’s a great guy, he really is, and the fact that he’s that devout a Muslim that, you know, prays five times a day. Like, he doesn’t f— around. He’s really by the books. He doesn’t even swear,” Rogan added.

Is Joe Rogan right to back Belal Muhammad as the next big UFC welterweight legend?
Have an interesting take?
Joe Rogan was very happy to see Belal Muhammad capture gold back in July. ‘Remember the Name’ shut down all his critics and the longtime UFC color commentator lauded the champion for that as well. “Everybody has to shut the f— up now…There were so many doubters. So many naysayers, so many people didn’t want you to get that title shot. It was so unfair, dude [and] It was really wild,” Rogan stated back when Muhammad appeared as a guest on his show.
It’s safe to say that Belal Muhammad has already etched his name in the UFC’s history book, but can he go further? He wants to overtake Georges St-Pierre and the other great welterweights, and hence, that journey will start with the fight against Shavkat Rakhmonov. Who do you have it winning at UFC 310?
