During episode #2128 of the Joe Rogan Experience, the host and his guest, Joey Diaz were dumbfounded watching the Performance of Demetrious Johnson at the Pan IBJJF World Championship 2024. They were stunned to see the performance of “Mighty Mouse” against an opponent 100 pounds heavier than him. Considering the fact that the 37-year-old was still a champion in ONE FC, his interest in competing in events such as this gained the utmost respect of the UFC commentator.
Rogan would go on to praise “Mighty Mouse”, stating, “He’s (Demetrious Johnson’s) probably the best ever. In terms of like just pure martial arts techniques. I think the best expression of martial arts I’ve ever seen is Mighty Mouse.”
Demetrious Johnson is arguably the greatest MMA talent the world has ever seen. His domination in the sport makes tons of people consider him the best PFP fighter in the world despite his stature. And it wasn’t only Rogan who was awestruck with Johnson’s performance as another popular MMA personality would give the 37-year-old his credit.
Ariel Helwani terms Demetrious Johnson as “Greatest ever”
Johnson’s performance also gained the respect of long-time MMA journalist, Ariel Helwani. Helwani not only commented on his performance, but also revealed why he was one of the most respected champions, both in and out of the cage.
In a recent tweet, Helwani wrote, “Perhaps what I love most about DJ is he is hands down one of the greatest ever. And yet, here he is on a Sunday in Florida with very few people in attendance just challenging (and at times humbling) himself in new competitive ways, when he really has nothing to prove anymore. And he does it with little pomp, circumstance or drawing attention to himself.”
