Joe Rogan just couldn’t keep calm after watching such a phenomenal knockout. Dominick Reyes just dropped Nikita Krylov with a huge left hook in the very first round of their UFC 314 main card opener bout. But the uncanny similarity the finish had with Conor McGregor’s KO win over Jose Aldo from 2015 left the commentary table in awe.
Soon after the KO, Daniel Cormier pointed out that it was just like the time when Conor McGregor knocked Jose Aldo with his iconic left hook at UFC 194 to win the undisputed featherweight title. Just like Aldo, Krylov dropped down unconscious, and Reyes exploited the opening to end it all with a few hits on the ground. Rogan couldn’t help himself from saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, Dominick Reyes is back! It’s just like Conor McGregor Jose Aldo… Beautiful.”
But ‘The Devastator’ was up for more. In the post-fight interview, he claimed, “I’m not back, I’m better.” Needless to say, these were the words that the entire world was waiting for. Following a 4-fight losing spree, Reyes went on 2 back-to-back KO wins before entering UFC 314. And in just 2 minutes and 24 seconds into the fight, he dropped Krylov with a strong left hook. Reyes and his team clicked a picture with a flabbergasted Joe Rogan. And then, after he claimed that he was up for a title shot after one more win, the crowd went berserk as he performed the iconic golf move to Trump’s acknowledging smile.

But do you know what Reyes had to say about his win? Well, he did face a lot of challenges not too long ago, and this win said a lot. Let’s take a look at the UFC 314 winner’s message for the fighting realm.

Reacting to his multi-fight losing streak, Reyes said, “I’ll tell you what, man, it sucked. But man, my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, my faith in myself and my family, it kept me grounded, right? It kept me here. And I’m still here fighting. Anything’s going on in your life, guys, just keep on fighting. Never give up. You go down, get up again. Just keep going. Baby! There are brighter days ahead. Jesus has your back.”

And that’s when the famed UFC color commentator decided to zoom into the KO. Krylov was rushing in for some action, but ‘The Devastator’ caught him with a left hook after a smart slip back. Rogan remarked that this victory over the Russian put him back on top of the heap. Of course, this performance was worthy enough to get him to the top 10 light heavyweight list. But who does he want to go up against next? Seems like an interesting job for the UFC’s matchmakers, after Reyes just shrugged it off.
