As the world of mixed martial arts readied to witness Alex Pereira step back into the Octagon at UFC 303 to defend his light heavyweight championship belt against Jiri Prochazka, some dubious revelations about the Brazilian have surfaced. Prochazka recently accused the LHW champion of performing dark magic. Hours after the Czech fighter’s claims, Joe Rogan swooped in to reveal his thoughts on Pereira.

As crazy as it may sound, Pereira’s shamanic rituals indeed scared the ‘Czech Samurai’. But the UFC color commentator seemed to think of the ‘Poatan’ as a warrior from the Amazon. Let’s take a deeper dive into it, shall we?

In episode #2164 of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, the famed UFC color commentator and his guest, Action Bronson, talked highly of Alex Pereira. As the duo watched and broke down one of the Brazilian’s fights inside the kickboxing arena, Rogan began talking about Pereira’s heritage. He said, “Well he [Pereira] is a legit Amazon tribesman, you know. Like his people are like legit Amazon warriors. Like that’s. That guys, that’s probably how the great warriors of 500 years ago all looked, you know. They’re probably all looking like that guy.”

Needless to say, the UFC light heavyweight champion has greatly impressed many fight fans, and Rogan was indeed one of them. But what exactly did Prochazka say? The ‘Czech Samurai’ was recently featured in Ariel Helwani’s talk show, ‘The MMA Hour’. Therein, the fighter asked his upcoming opponent not to perform any kind of shamanic rituals before stepping into the fight.

The Czech fighter said that Pereira believed a lot in getting help from spiritual beings, which is, in fact, something that Prochaka admits that he can’t go against. Prochazka continued, “Yes everybody knows that he is doing these rituals ahead of his fight everybody can feel that what’s around him and what’s going on Alex can’t fight without that. That something that he’s been using normally in fights.” He simply asked the Brazilian to enter the Octagon and fight him man to man.

To the MMA world’s surprise, ‘Poatan’ didn’t deny his beliefs in the supernatural stuff. In a recent press conference, the fighter said, “Well, everybody have their own spirits. We’re not only made of flesh and bone. I have found mine. If he did not found his or if he does not believe, it’s not my fault.”

JRE host exposes Pereira’s dirt tactics

In a previous episode of JRE MMA Show, Rogan and Max Holloway broke down Pereira’s fight with Jamahall Hill at UFC 300. As the conversation proceeded, the podcaster pointed out how ‘Poatan’ closed the gap between him and his opponent while Hill’s legs were straight. He said, “So he touches it, he closed the distance while Jamahal’s legs are straight. So Jamahal gives him the thumbs up and Pereira had a double hop.”

Rogan shone some light on Hill wanting a cleaner reset, as Pereira sent the blows that sent Hill off balance. Nevertheless, Rogan has now switched sides and come back to Pereira’s corner as the fighter gets ready to face Prochazka at UFC 303.
