Justin Gaethje lost his BMF title to Max Holloway in their breathtaking UFC 300 bout earlier this month. While the fight was mostly a one-sided affair in favor of ‘Blessed’ Gaethje’s endurance, resilience, and willingness to brawl with the Hawaiian in the closing seconds despite being battered for five rounds, yet again proved why he is a UFC legend.

After his $300k ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus-winning heroics, Max Holloway joined Joe Rogan on the latter’s podcast where the two profusely praised one of part of Justin Gaethje’s magnificent skill-set.

Justin Gaethje of course, has one of the most effective and powerful leg kicks in the game. Even GOAT contender Khabib Nurmagomedov (before he inevitably caught Gaethje and submitted him in the second round) lost his first round to the powerhouse, on two of the three judges’ scorecard, in large part due to Gaethje’s legendary leg kicks.

And Joe Rogan felt that “he’s [Justin Gaethje’s] got this weird ability to hit your legs in the clinch. Holloway agreed, recounting how ‘The Human Highlight’ savaged his knee during their UFC 300 clash and remarked how Gaethje’s “hip is so flexible that he can just kick [up close].” According to Rogan and Holloway, the credit goes to Gaethje’s hips being hyper-flexible. The UFC commentator continued to pile on compliments on ‘The Human Highlight’, pointing out that there was no one else in all of the UFC who could really kick as effectively as the former BMF champion.

“Well he’s very unique in a lot of ways. Very unique style, very unique mentality, he’s a unique guy, but the leg kicks in the clinch… It’s horrible to watch becuse you think ‘oh, we’re just clinching here,’ but he’s just killing your leg like no one can. I don’t know anyone else who kicks the legs from the clinch like Justin Gaethje does,” Rogan said.

Max Holloway surprised knockdown not scored for Gaethje at UFC 300

Max Holloway was incensed that Justin Gaethje dropping him in the fourth round of their UFC 300 bout didn’t count on the official stat sheet. While Holloway managed to knock out the New Orleans native in the fifth round, Gaethje gave ‘Blessed’ a taste of his legendary power when he caught the Hawaiian with a hard right in the fourth round.

This made the former featherweight champion’s legs give out, sending him crashing to the ground. This, of course, despite Holloway’s legendary and as of yet undefeated chin. However, it was adjudged a slip and not recorded as a knockdown, which both Rogan and Holloway found surprising.

“It didn’t count as a drop, which is crazy. ESPN is like posting it saying like in however many fights I didn’t get dropped. That’s some bulls**. I’ll take it, you know what I mean. But I wouldn’t be a man sitting here and telling you [I didn’t get dropped],” Holloway told Rogan.
