Is Cillian Murphy's Thomas Shelby the best TV character ever? Joe Rogan seems to think so!

Over the years, TV shows and web series have tremendously risen to another level of entertainment. Much like movies, these shows have given the fans and viewers some of the most memorable characters and, of course, making stars out of actors. ‘Peaky Blinders’ is one such show that launched Irish star Cillian Murphy to stardom. Even longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan seems to be a massive fan of the show as he shared some praise for the Academy Award winner.

Six seasons and thirty-six episodes were all ‘Peaky Blinders’ needed to etch a permanent spot in pop culture. It ran for almost a decade, garnering an 8.8 rating on IMDb and 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. And it seems that the ratings were justified because Joe Rogan is deep into the show and was impressed with how Cillian Murphy excelled in his role.

“Peaky Blinders is great, dude. I’m on season 4 now. It’s good dude, it’s f***ing good. Cillian Murphy, that guy is a beast,” Joe Rogan stated on the recent ‘JRE Companion Show’. But that isn’t the only work that Cillian Murphy has become one of Rogan’s favorites.

Perhaps the biggest movie in his career, Oppenheimer, was what proved how much of a versatile artist the 48-year-old star really is, according to the JRE host. “He’s great in Oppenheimer. The guy’s got such range… A guy who can play a gangster and a nuclear scientist. That’s range,” Joe Rogan added.

Now, this is not the first time Rogan has praised ‘Peaky Blinders.’ In episode #2165 of JRE, he expressed his love for British Crime Dramas. He told guest Jack Carr, “I just started watching Peaky Blinders. F**king great! It’s f**king great! I burned through The Gentlemen, which is Guy Ritchie’s new show on Netflix, which is amazing. It’s f**ing great! Prime Guy Ritchie. It’s great.”

He added, “And then, a lot of friends have been telling me, ‘You got to watch Peaky Blinders,’ and Jamie keeps telling me I got to watch The Wire, and that’s next. The Wire’s next, but I got to get through Peaky Blinders. Peaky Blinders is fu*ing great.”

Interestingly enough, it was a talk about another famous Irishman which landed Rogan on the topic of ‘Peaky Blinders.’ The JRE Fight Companion hosts were talking if Conor McGregor would ever fight again. The UFC commentator believed McGregor made, and is still making, a truckload of cash to be tempted to fight again.

This discussion digressed into how good McGregor’s whiskey actually was. While Tony Hinchcliff and Brian Simpson were not fans and preferred the more expensive and aged liquors, Brendan Schaub added that McGregor’s was not a sipping whiskey. “Peaky Blinders sh*t,” Rogan interjected, referring to the more classic whiskey brands.

As for Cillian Murphy, the Academy Award winner has endeavored in so many successful movies of late that people often forget that also played a villain in the critically acclaimed ‘The Dark Knight Trilogy’. But what made him the star that he is today was the role of ‘Thomas Shelby’ in ‘Peaky Blinders’. The intensity he brought to the screen had just made Joe Rogan a fan of the Irish actor.

However, his love for Cillian Murphy doesn’t just stem from his recent work. Rogan became the Irish star’s fan due to a movie that was released two decades ago.

The JRE host claims Murphy acted in the best ‘zombie’ movie ever

One of Cillian Murphy’s less talked about works was the movie ’28 Days Later’, a zombie movie. Released in 2002, the 1 hour and 53-minute-long flick was perhaps the first movie based on undead creatures in the 21st century. For Joe Rogan, there’s hardly any “zombie” movie that gets viewers as good, as ’28 Days Later’. The success of that movie led to a sequel named ’28 weeks later’, starring Jeremy Renner, and after 22 years, a third installment is in the works at the moment.

“You ever see ’28 Days Later’, the zombie movie? Best zombie movie ever… That first one is amazing,” said Joe Rogan. Cillian Murphy has already stamped his mark in Hollywood with his Oscar-winning performance in ‘Oppenheimer’. But what is next for the Irish actor? That’s going to be an interesting thing to watch out for.
