Joe Rogan recently had the opportunity to host the Tesla CEO Elon Musk. It was long pending demand for the fans that Musk should grace Rogan’s podcast once again. Musk arrived at the podcast with his very own cyber truck and Rogan attempted to put the truck through a durability test by shooting an arrow at it as well.

During their conversation, the two engaged in a discussion about the evolving landscape of the UFC and how it has both adapted to and upheld the essence of modern-day MMA. Rogan asserted that MMA has changed the ideas of jiu-jitsu. Rogan asserted “ That makes a big difference. MMA has changed the ideas of Jiu-Jitsu because there are a lot of techniques that work well in competition. When someone’s grabbing your leg, you can’t just rain down punches on their face.”

Elon Musk also mentioned that if someone with enormous fists were to punch you in the face, maintaining composure in such a situation would prove to be quite challenging. Rogan in response added, “Yeah, Carlson Gracie famously had a phrase that if you take a black belt and punch him in the face, he becomes a brown belt.”  In the end, Musk inquired whether the 12-elbow limitation still exists in UFC.

Rogan in response to his question stated that the rule has been changed now ” That’s changing. Finally, I’ve been saying that from the top of the roof forever.”  Further down in the conversation, Rogan gave the reason why this rule was there in the first place

During the conversation, Rogan stated the reason why the 12-elbow limitation was introduced in the first place. Rogan added ” It came from Big John McCarthy, who was the original UFC referee and pioneer of the sport. He was bringing this to the athletic commissions and they were allowing certain techniques. But one they wouldn’t allow was the 12 to 6 elbow”

He further counted ” Because they saw those late-night karate demonstrations where someone would like like smashed world like that. They thought someone would die if they hit him with this”  Nonetheless the rule has been changed now and fighters can now use as many elbow strikes as they want.
